Accounting Senior Manager

As the Accounting Senior Manager supporting the Evernorth Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), you will lead critical general ledger activities, guide a talented team, and partner across the business to deliver timely, accurate financial results. Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee complex general ledger activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial results for the Evernorth GPO.
• Guide and develop a team of approximately three accounting professionals, fostering strong performance, accountability, and professional growth.
• Own month‑end close activities, including journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, and variance explanations.
• Review and analyze financial accruals, manufacturer rebates, receivables, and payables to support informed business decisions.
• Partner with business and finance leaders to present financial results, explain variances, and support key enterprise initiatives.
• Support and influence company‑wide rebate initiatives through deep system knowledge, analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls, including the adoption of automation and more efficient workflows.
• Provide leadership and support for external audits and internal control processes, including SOX compliance activities.
• Balance long‑term strategic projects with day‑to‑day operational priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
Qualifications
Required
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance roles.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Proven ability to lead complex accounting processes while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with the ability to research and resolve issues across functions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to senior leaders and business partners.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Prior experience leading, mentoring, or developing an accounting team.
• Experience supporting audits, SOX controls, or financial compliance activities.
• Experience working in a matrixed environment with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Flexibility to adjust work schedules to support close cycles and critical project timelines.
