About the team

You will be part of the dynamic Finance team at Careem, supporting accounting operations and ensuring financial integrity for one of our key markets. Our team is committed to excellence, operational efficiency, and impactful collaboration across departments.

About the role

As a Senior Accounting Associate, you will play a critical role in executing core accounting processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, and supporting internal and external stakeholders. This position requires an analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and strong accounting fundamentals.

What you'll do

  • Lead the month-end closing process for one of Careem’s key markets

  • Calculate, validate, supervise, and lead payout processes for Careem’s merchants and partners

  • Perform timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and general ledgers

  • Conduct accurate and timely payout reconciliations

  • Respond to and resolve partner concerns on day-to-day transactions

  • Support audit and compliance requirements by preparing schedules and maintaining documentation in accordance with Careem's accounting policies

  • Identify and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and automation in accounting workflows

What you'll need

  • Qualified accountant or a bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance from a well-regarded institution

  • 3–4 years of experience in accounting or finance

  • Strong understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet, and accrual accounting

  • Comfortable handling large data sets and working across internal teams (data, product, commercial, finance, and operations) and external stakeholders (partners)

  • Knowledge of SQL/queries is a plus

  • Fluency in English

  • Prior experience in a tech company or food delivery business is preferred
