Why we're hiring:
WPP is undergoing an exciting global transformation, streamlining processes and driving efficiencies across WPP HQ. Within that Enterprise Technology (ET) department is at the heart of this evolution, delivering vital services to our extensive network of creative agencies.
We're seeking an ambitious Senior Accountant to join our HQ Finance Controllership team in Mumbai. In this 12-month fixed-term contract role covering maternity leave, you will play a key role in supporting the EMEA region, leading stakeholder management with our country-level contacts. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing country-level Balance Sheet reconciliations, associated supporting schedules, driving InterCompany resolutions, and ensuring timely control execution.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Accountant primarily focused on the ET department of WPP HQ Controllership, you'll report to the Senior Manager, HQ Controllership and be instrumental in:
· Act as the primary point of contact and manage senior stakeholder relationships across EMEA countries.
· Ensure seamless financial coordination and reporting oversight for EMEA Country units.
· Drive InterCompany resolutions and foster strong relationships with InterCompany stakeholders.
· Deliver accurate and insightful financial reporting throughout the monthly reporting cycle, leveraging systems like Maconomy Core and the Group Consolidation tool BFC (SAP). You will collaborate closely with Finance Business Partners, FP&A, the wider HQ Controllership team, and drive engagement with the offshore Shared Service Centre.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors regarding your areas of responsibility.
· Unlock the incremental opportunities arising from the ERP Migration occurring in H1 2026, which will enable greater operational opportunity and control across the EMEA region.
· Be the subject matter expert and 'go-to' person for all financial figures within the ET EMEA Balance Sheet
· Support broader team initiatives and other regions as required
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact, with a remit to improve how the company operates rather than just delivering on existing processes. High-performing individuals may find themselves well-positioned for future permanent opportunities within the wider team should they arise during or after this contract period.
What you'll need:
What We're Looking For:
· Qualified Accountant with recognized professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent). Proven experience either within a Big Four/leading audit firm (auditing large multinational clients) or directly within a large international organization.
· A dynamic, ambitious individual who is driven by working in a changeable environment and is enthused by being given a remit to change processes for the better.
· Demonstrated ability to confidently interact and manage relationships with senior stakeholders across the business, including Operating Companies and HQ Finance.
· Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach.
· Proficiency in MS Excel.
· Experience with ERP systems (Maconomy Core) and consolidation tools (SAP BFC) would be beneficial.
· Strong understanding of IFRS/GAAP accounting standards
What We Offer:
· Be part of a transformative period in a leading global creative network.
· Opportunity to make a significant contribution to the efficiency and effectiveness of our financial operations.
· Collaborative and supportive work environment.
· Competitive salary and benefits package.
