About this Position
This position is responsible for the calculation of complex accounting entries as well as balancing the Reinsurance Deal System and the Actuarial Registry Files. Prepare the ETPR Premium payments/analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and the subledger file creation. Assist with implementations and process improvements impacting Reinsurance Accounting and the Reinsurance Deal System. Assemble quarter-end and year-end deliverables requested by other departments and by external auditors. Notify the manager, reinsurance accounting of any unusual variances that arise during the course of monthly/quarterly work.
This is hybrid position that offers flexibility for remote and onsite work. Candidate must be local and be available to work both onsite and remotely during the week.
Salary range 85K USD Annual
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Captive Reinsurers Reporting, Balancing of the Reinsurance Deal System and Actuarial Registry Files
- Calculate and record complex accounting entries and prepare schedules and exhibits required to comply with the Vidalia Coinsurance Agreement
- Balance the data inflows, outflows, and the enrichment process for the Reinsurance Deal System
- Balance the Actuarial cash flow registry files to incurred premiums and claims
- Assist in researching any issues that occur during the month-end process
- Calculate the quarterly Vidalia Re settlement with the corresponding AP/wire requests for payments or the accounting for settlement receipts
- Update configuration tables
- Calculate annual rate factor changes
- Aid in implementing changes to the process to record new adjustments resulting from treaty amendments
ETPR Premiums payments, Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Subledger file creation
- Compile, reconcile, report and pay the ETPR’s their monthly premium
- Prepare reconciliation of all Reinsurance Operations and Reinsurance Accounting balance sheet accounts back to the source
- Create the monthly actuarial & reinsurance sub-ledger file for input into Blackline
Quarter-end and Year-end deliverables
- On a quarterly basis, prepare comprehensive reporting packages required to comply with the ETPR Coinsurance agreements. Reconcile financial data to the appropriate books of record(GAAP, IFRS, STAT).
- Prepare Statutory Schedule S reporting for the Term business. Calculate and record complex accounting entries.
- Assemble quarterly/year-end deliverables for KPMG and internal departments
- Perform review of EUC spreadsheets and baseline SOX key reports
- Perform comprehensive Top-Down Entitlements
Process Improvements & Financial System Implementation support, Accounting Research
- Assist with the testing and implementation of new financial systems and/or process improvements impacting Reinsurance Accounting and the Reinsurance Deal System.
- Assist with implementing new accounting adjustments that impact the actuarial, reinsurance and IPO/Captive reporting
Education and Experience
- Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 4+ years of experience
- Knowledge of accounting systems, SOX controls
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Adobe Pro
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to solve problems with a high sense of urgency
- Thorough focus on organization and attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- The highest level of integrity and accountability
Experience with Workday, Blackline, Project Management, Life Insurance accounting knowledge a plus
