Senior Accountant - Fixed Asset & Project Accounting

About the role:

Fixed Asset Management

  • Oversee and reconcile fixed asset registers for tangible and intangible assets, including software licenses and internally developed software.
  • Review and approve asset acquisitions, transfers, disposals, retirements, and capitalization requests, ensuring proper classification, useful life assignments, and compliance with accounting policies. 
  •  Perform detailed reviews of assets before they move into depreciating status and assess assets for indicators of impairment
  • Lead and coordinate periodic physical asset verifications and support resolution of discrepancies.

Project Accounting

  • Review and validate project-related expenses and time charges from MyTime and Fieldglass systems
  • Partner with project managers and stakeholders to ensure accurate project setup, cost allocation, and financial tracking.
  • Review the capitalization of internal and external project costs in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Monitor project balances, investigate variances, support project close-out processes, and provide accounting guidance on capitalization criteria and cost treatment.

General

  • Review GL account reconciliations in BlackLine, ensuring full compliance with IFRS, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
  • Act as a key user for project management systems, supporting project setup and alignment with product master data and accounting structures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and company policies, and support audit requests.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process automation, standardization, and system enhancements. Support system implementations, upgrades, testing activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide oversight, guidance and day-to-day support to junior team members.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience with strong emphasis on fixed assets and/or project accounting
  • Strong proficiency in SAP WRP and S/4HANA (Asset Accounting module) required.
  •  Experience with time management and project-related systems preferred (e.g., MyTime and Fieldglass systems).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and internal control frameworks, including SOX.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills — required for regular interaction with regional and global teams
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, data analysis).
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI/automation tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Power BI, or similar) to improve the efficiency and quality of accounting work. Experience using AI tools to assist with data analysis, journal entry preparation, reconciliation investigation, reporting, or documentation is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to manage complex issues independently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong sense of ownership and accountability. 
  •  Process improvement mindset with focus on efficiency, standardization, and automation. Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment. 
  • Collaborative approach with strong stakeholder management skills.
