Akaysha energy

Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting

Cremorne, Victoria, Australia; Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Full Time

The world is making the shift to cleaner energy, slowly. The planet is changing, fast.

That’s why Akaysha builds, owns, and operates the most powerful mega-scale battery storage solutions of today, and it’s why we’ll continue to build more. But what we are really building is a better future for everyone we share the planet with.

With a 30GWh+ portfolio spanning APAC, the Americas, and the EU and a global team of over 200, should we slow down, or should the world catch up?

As a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting, you’ll be joining the Finance & Investment team responsible for complex project financing, IFRS accounting policies, and the implementation of best practice financial reporting. Unique to Akaysha, the accounting team is involved in intricate financial instruments and derivative accounting including innovative power purchase agreements.

Building on this momentum, this position will ensure all reconciliations are up to date and free of material discrepancies, deliver well-documented journal entries and supporting workpapers, and drive improvements to month-end reporting that enhances both efficiency and accuracy of financial results.

Your experience will be critical in advancing Akaysha’s cyber maturity, and your work will make a tangible impact as you:

  • Oversee financial accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate month-end close, regulatory compliance, financial statement review, external auditor coordination, and proper application of accounting standards.
  • BESS project, asset, and intercompany accounting across all phases: cost capitalization, expenditure reconciliation, processing recharges, fixed asset register maintenance, and meeting revenue recognition standards.
  • Consolidation and group financial reporting with Workday, including consolidation journals, intercompany eliminations, management and statutory reporting, variance analysis, and timely close.
  • Drive process and system improvements by partnering with finance and IT teams to enhance reporting, data integrity, and internal controls, while developing and maintaining accounting policies and supporting finance projects.
  • Support the team and stakeholders by guiding junior accountants, collaborating with project managers and commercial teams, assisting with financial analysis, and overseeing purchase approvals and employee expenses.

This role provides the flexibility to be based at Akaysha’s Melbourne (HQ), or Sydney Office with the option to work in hybrid capacity – spending time at home, and in the office.

Making an impact in this role will rely on experience across the following areas:

  • Month-End Close & Balance Sheet Integrity
Ability to complete period-end accounting processes and maintain accurate, complete, and compliant balance sheet accounts in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Statutory & Tax Compliance (AU Regulatory)

  • Technical Accounting
Capability in interpreting and applying Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS to financial transactions and reporting outcomes.
  • BESS Project, Asset & Intercompany Accounting
Expertise in accounting principles specific to battery energy storage system projects, including asset lifecycle, capital structures, and intercompany financial arrangement
  • Workday Consolidation, Group Reporting & Finance Systems Control
Technical proficiency in financial consolidation functionality within Workday, including group-level data aggregation and elimination structures
