This role reports into the Pfizer Core Operations group.  Core Operations is part of the Controller’s organization in Pfizer and plays a vital role in the collection, consolidation and reporting of financial information for the company as well as the preparation of metrics over various financial reporting areas.  The team collaborates with global, market, regional and HQ Business Finance as it relates to various data collection activities (sales, trial balance, inventory markup and supplemental/disclosure data) data submission requirements, systems/process training and financial reporting & analysis (both internal and external).

This position within the Core Operations group is responsible for the preparation and review of key financial schedules/analytics and execution of financial reporting processes that are critical to the consolidated financial reporting both internally and externally for Pfizer.  In accomplishing this, the individual in this role will interact with colleagues globally across numerous functions within Pfizer’s Finance & Business Operations organization and will be expected to not only execute their job responsibilities with a high degree of integrity and quality but also be an active contributor to continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Achieve

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare select schedules in the Flash Package provided to senior management
  • Prepare summarized analysis of assigned P&L areas, and present results in quarterly review meetings with the Controller and other finance executives
  • Perform analytical procedures for consolidated balance sheet activity for high-risk areas leveraging knowledge of business operations and expertise in financial systems/tools
  • Prepare quarterly Equity and EPS reports and communications to be distributed to global stakeholders
  • Prepare analysis of equity and CTA to support the Balance Sheet preparation, help to identify, resolve, and document results
  • Prepare footnote disclosures for high-risk areas for inclusion in external filings 10Q/10K, including related External Reporting tasks
  • Assist in identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities to achieve ‘Best-In-Class’ close process and partner with manager and process stakeholders to implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance quality, increase efficiency, and improve effectiveness of the close process
  • Work with business partners to resolve inquiries related to reporting, analysis, and adjusting entries, for assigned areas. Review reports and financial data from the field and prepare necessary adjusting journal entries.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure audit requests are responded to timely and accurately
  • Support special projects for which Controllers representation or assistance is required. These include business acquisitions and divestitures and implementation of financial systems
  • Prepare metrics over financial reporting for Management with a focus on continuous improvement geared toward conveying risks/opportunities through review of KPI’s
  • Effectively use FCCS reporting tools to prepare financial analysis for detailed tasks assigned in the close process
  • Ensure internal controls for assigned areas are completed in accordance with SOX requirements and company policies
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders (GBS, Tax, Treasury, Legal) and implement standardized practices where possible

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements):

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a master's degree with more than 0+ years of experience; OR an associate's degree with 6 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
  • Acts with a sense of urgency and is change agile
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize demands
  • Self-starter who brings energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to every responsibility and project. Has a passion for new ideas and a sustained focus on continuous improvement
  • Team player capable of establishing positive and productive working relationships
  • Demonstrates an ongoing desire to learn and a commitment to personal development
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements):

  • CPA License
  • Big 4 Auditing Experience
  • Experience with a large, multi-national company
  • Working knowledge of Oracle FCCS - Financial Consolidation and Close System

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $77,400.00 to $129,000.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
