The Opportunity

We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant in our Lake County, Abbott Park, IL location. 

The Senior Accountant will join the Fixed Asset team within the US Center of Excellence (COE). This role owns end-to-end fixed asset accounting activities, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals in compliance with company policies, GAAP/IFRS, and internal control requirements.

The Senior Accountant serves as a subject matter expert (SME) within the Fixed Assets COE, partners cross-functionally across divisions, supports audits, and drives continuous process improvement and automation initiatives while providing guidance to junior team members and contractors.

What You'll Work On:

  • Own end-to-end fixed asset accounting processes, including asset additions, transfers, disposals, impairments, retirements, and capitalization reviews.

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual depreciation processing, reconciliations, and close activities.

  • Maintain integrity of the fixed asset subledger and ensure alignment with the general ledger.

  • Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and account reconciliations related to fixed assets.

  • Perform balance sheet and variance analyses; identify and resolve discrepancies.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, GAAP/IFRS requirements, and internal control standards, including SOX.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.

  • Support and participate in annual physical asset verification and tagging activities.

  • Act as an SME for fixed asset accounting policies, procedures, and system functionality (SAP preferred).

  • Lead and support process improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate capitalization and accounting treatment for capital projects.

  • Support system enhancements and policy updates related to fixed asset accounting.

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to staff accountants and contractors on fixed asset processes and best practices.

  • Coordinate with Shared Services, COE teams, and divisional stakeholders.

  • Prepare and present reports and analyses for management review.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience,

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS.

  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or equivalent professional certification.

  • Experience in a shared services or Finance COE environment.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Experience supporting SOX controls, audits, and finance improvements initiatives.

The base pay for this position is

$78,000.00 – $156,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
