Senior Account Manager (Venue and Team Sports Partnerships) (Financial Services Client)

CLIENT SERVICES / Responsible for leading Octagon’s client business and day-to-day management of client programs.

***Our headquarters are located in Stamford, CT, but the location of this position can be flexible with a preference for working in one of our office locations -- Stamford, CT, Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA, Miami, FL, New York, NY, or Atlanta, GA. Remote candidates will not be considered. This role will be on EST business hours.

As a Senior Account Manager within Octagon’s Client Services team, you will lead day-to-day management of a major financial services client and its portfolio of premier U.S. sports partnerships, including MLB, NFL, NBA, NASCAR, and NHL. You will help shape strategic direction, oversee partnership planning and activation, and ensure seamless execution across multiple internal teams and external partners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

  • Oversee and manage the team that serves as the primary day-to-day contact for the client across their sports sponsorship portfolio. 
  • Lead communications across internal teams, partner organizations, and external agencies to keep programs aligned and moving forward. 
  • Work closely with clients and league/team partners to translate goals into best-in-class activations. 
  • Support the development of partnership strategies, activation plans, and measurement frameworks. 
  • Collaborate with Strategy and Insights teams to evaluate existing partnerships, assess new opportunities, and provide data-backed recommendations. 
  • Counsel clients on league, team, and fan insights to guide decision-making. 
  • Manage the coordination of activation timelines, project plans, partner deliverables, and cross-agency workflows. 
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, including status reports, tracking tools, meeting agendas, and recaps. 
  • Ensure all assets—digital, on-site, experiential, and media—are properly tracked, managed, and fulfilled. 
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas that enhance partnership storytelling and engagement. 
  • Provide research and insights that inform program development. 
  • Assist on other events, programs, or research needs as directed.  
  • Uphold Octagon’s standards of organization, communication, and attention to detail in all client-facing work.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

  • 5-6 years of work with an agency, brand, or property on integrated brand campaigns, specifically within U.S. domestic and global sports 
  • Passion and expertise in sports, CSR, entertainment, gaming, music, and/or lifestyle culture 
  • Experience delivering integrated sponsorship activations and campaigns 
  • Strong presentation development skills for senior audiences 
  • Track record of success at cultivating positive agency client, vendor and property relationships 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple programs, timelines, and teams under pressure 
  • A people-centric leader who values collaboration and team building 
  • Coachable, adaptable, and eager to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel 
  • Willingness to travel domestically and work weekends/holidays as needed (20–30% travel) 

The base range for this position is $65,000 – 75,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications
