Senior Account Executive – Risk Management

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Account Executive to join Marsh in Melbourne within our prestigious Risk Management Practice. In this role, you will work closely with a Principal and manage two large key accounts, supporting a portfolio of multinational clients. 

You will focus on developing strong client relationships and delivering superior service, which includes regular client contact, risk and insurance program renewals, technical advice, and business development. Collaboration with the Managing Principal and Principal will be essential in all aspects of client services, as well as working alongside various teams within Marsh.

We will count on you to: 

  • Manage the development, implementation, and achievement of risk management and insurance programs that effectively address client needs. 

  • Foster and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key client decision-makers through regular meetings and communication. 

  • Collaborate with the Principal and Managing Principal to gain insights into clients' businesses, risk management, and insurance needs. 

  • Identify opportunities for Marsh to assist clients in mitigating risk exposures beyond traditional insurance products. 

  • Stay informed about all large and potentially complex claim-related matters, assisting claims personnel in negotiating equitable settlements on behalf of clients. 

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all major classes of insurance offered by the company and stay updated on new technical and product developments. 

  • Develop and nurture meaningful working relationships with insurers, clients, and a diverse range of Marsh colleagues across Australia through regular engagement. 

  • Actively pursue additional business opportunities within your existing portfolio. 

  • Develop, implement, and manage effective renewal, retention, and defense strategies in collaboration with the Managing Principal and Principal. 

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records on all clients are maintained in accordance with Client First Principles. 

  • Possess a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including the Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Fire Services Levy, Stamp Duties, and Worker's Compensation.

  • Client Service: Excellent delivery of technical, administrative, and consulting support to both internal and external clients. 

  • Change Management: Awareness of environmental, financial, regulatory, and social factors affecting the company and clients' operations, along with knowledge of internal technological and product capabilities. 

  • Commercial Acumen: A deep understanding of factors impacting service delivery by the company. 

  • Planning and Organization: Ability to develop and implement effective action plans for yourself and others to ensure timely and efficient completion of work. 

  • Drive & Self-Motivation: A proactive approach to taking on increased responsibilities and the ability to work independently. 

What makes you stand out? 

  • 3+ years of experience in insurance broking. 

  • A solid understanding of business and organizational risk management. 

  • Prior experience managing a portfolio of clients. 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of insurance. 

  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills. 

  • Essential Tier 1 FSRA Compliance; a tertiary qualification is highly regarded but not mandatory.
