Senior Ab Initio developer

About your role

You will design, develop and support large-scale ETL solutions using Ab Initio for critical financial services systems. You will lead technical delivery, performance tuning, and production support while partnering with business and engineering teams to ensure reliable, high-performance data processing and governance.

What you’ll do

  • Provide 24/7 on-call rotation and support mission‑critical production Ab Initio systems.
  • Design, build, debug and optimize Ab Initio graphs and metaprograms for high‑volume data processing.
  • Architect and implement high‑availability and clustered Ab Initio environments and troubleshoot and improve runtime behavior and performance of graph executions.
  • Implement and maintain Ab Initio EME environments and associated operational processes and Integrate Ab Initio jobs with relational and NoSQL data stores (Oracle, DB2, SQL, Mongo, etc.).
  • Build and maintain ingestion pipelines, interfaces and automation using Python and shell scripting and participate in DevOps/CI‑CD pipeline activities (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, scanning tools) and apply Ab Initio DevOps practices.
  • Apply test automation and quality practices (TDD/BDD) for ETL solutions and Collaborate with architects, data engineers and business stakeholders to produce source‑to‑target mappings and end‑to‑end data flows.
  • Use Splunk and Excel (advanced macros) for monitoring, diagnostics and data analysis.
  • Mentor team members, drive design reviews, and enforce data governance and operational standards and Participate in Agile delivery processes and sprint ceremonies.

Experience you’ll need to have

  • 10+ years overall IT experience designing, developing and implementing large‑scale software applications.
  • 8+ years hands‑on Ab Initio experience.
  • 5+ years hands‑on experience designing and developing ETL and data warehousing solutions.
  • Expert in Ab Initio graph development, debugging, metaprogramming and EME and deep understanding of Ab Initio architecture and high‑availability clustered setups.
  • Proficient with Oracle, DB2, SQL, Mongo and other RDBMS/NoSQL implementations in Ab Initio contexts and strong Unix shell scripting skills and Python scripting experience for alerts, monitoring, data movement and automation.
  • Practical experience with end‑to‑end DevOps CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, scanning tools) and with cloud and streaming technologies (including Kafka) and migrating apps/databases to cloud.
  • Must be ready to participate in on‑call rotation to support production systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Experience that would be great to have

  • Working knowledge of Ab Initio integration with Snowflake.
  • 4+ years of experience with Talend and hands‑on basic Java coding experience (preferred).
  • Experience performing reverse/forward engineering and developing detailed source‑to‑target and process mappings.
  • Prior experience with large financial institution implementations and complex data landscapes.
  • Experience in the financial services industry (accounts, cards, payments or digital processing).

How you’ll work

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.

Travel

  • Approximately 10% travel off-site or to other office locations is expected.

Salary Range

$90,000.00 - $158,400.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
