Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) System Engineering & Integration (SE&I) National Team is seeking motivated and talented Systems Engineers to join the team in Huntsville, AL to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

The Boeing-led SE&I National Team is a formal consortium of major aerospace companies aligned in partnership to provide the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) with balanced, integrated, and best-of-industry products and services for efficiently solving the challenges and complexities of missile defense.  This team is responsible for providing MDA with system-level concepts, architectures, requirements, and assessments to enable development and deployment of incremental upgrades to America’s Missile Defense System.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Lead and Senior (Levels 4 or 5) System Engineers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop, benchmark, and utilize medium-level fidelity and first principles physics-based simulations to conduct analysis and develop requirements for integrated multi-phenomenology sensors, battle management command control & communications, and weapon systems for the Missile Defense Agency
  • Support and develop analysis planning and tool developments, Support requirements product development, and potentially represent the Systems Engineering and Integration Team to Missile Defense Agency to internal and external stakeholders in reviews and technical interchanges related to analysis
  • Collaborate with team Subject Matter Experts to ensure technical quality of performance requirements and analysis products
  • Facilitate expansion of Model Based Systems Engineering capabilities to incorporate analytical modeling and performance requirements

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9+ years of work-related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or 7+ years of work-related engineering experience with a Master’s or 4+ years of work-related engineering experience with a PhD
  • Strong technical background in using numerical M&S and a high-level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, or similar language environment to support development of system performance requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building and/or analyzing M&S for integrated missile defense systems including subsystems such as EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, kill vehicles, missiles/interceptors, space systems, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically to develop and capture concepts in technical papers, presentations, and discussions.  Must possess good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • 14+ years of work-related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or 12+ years of work-related engineering experience with a Master’s or 9+ years of work-related engineering experience with a PhD
  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense System Specification
  • Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of on-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, countermeasure mitigation and discrimination, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems (e.g., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.)
  • Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Next Generation Interceptor, Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.)
  • Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems and use of descriptive and analytical models supporting development of performance specifications in a Model Based Systems Engineering environment

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range (Lead, Level 4): $129,200 - $174,800

Summary pay range (Senior, Level 5): $154,700 - $209,300
