Capella is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join the Events Team for a hands-on summer internship. This role offers practical experience in corporate and academic event planning, logistics, and on-site execution while supporting a variety of internal and external events across the country.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Event Preparation & Logistics:
- Assist with F&B/catering orders, meeting space assignments, branding, and other event preparation for advisory board meetings, residencies, commencement, and community engagement offerings.
- Support packing and shipping of event materials the week prior to offsite events
- Help manage event inventory, supplies, and merchandise
On-Site Event Support:
- Assist with event set-up, execution, and teardown across multiple locations
- Restock supplies, snacks, and/or materials during events
- Support registration processes and attendee experience
- Assist with selling company merchandise (CU merch)
- Provide general on-site logistical support to Events Team members
Onsite event support needed for the following:
- Capella University commencement (June 24–28, Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
- July residency (July 17–26, St. Charles, IL; partial attendance required)
- August residency and community engagement offering (Aug. 5–9, Orlando, FL)
- BTH Advisory Board meeting (Aug. 18–20, Minneapolis, MN)
Administrative & Operational Support (Non-Travel Periods):
- Manage and review daily flight manifests and assist with data entry into tracking spreadsheets
- Upload weekly graduate data into Swoogo and distribute commencement invitations
- Participate in event planning processes (venue coordination, food & beverage, AV, staffing prep)
- Respond to student email inquiries
- Conduct informational interviews with Events Team members to learn different roles
- Other functions and duties as assigned.

Education:
- Current undergraduate college student with an interest in Event Management, Hospitality, Communications, Business, or related field

- Must be able to travel. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided.
- Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.

$20.00 - $30.50 - Hourly
