THE ROLE

The Security Supervisor (2nd Shift) will supervise Security Officers at Desert Diamond  Arena. This position is the core of our Security supervisory team and should represent Desert Diamond Arena in an exemplary manner. The Security Supervisor is responsible for a wide range of responsibilities dealing with building security, staff supervision, and event security. The Security Department at Desert Diamond  Arena is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This position oversees the 24/7 security operation with additional job responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Building Security

  • Supervise Desert Diamond Arena’s security positions during designated shift.
  • Communicate security related incidents to appropriate building management.
  • Communicate and disseminate information received via email, telephone, or in person to appropriate parties.
  • Update briefing/post materials for officers in a timely manner.
  • Complete non-event deployments / schedules in a timely manner.
  • Conduct informative shift briefings with incoming and outgoing officers and supervisors.
  • Conduct daily equipment inventories (radios, keys, etc.)
  • Conduct equipment checks (magnetometers, hand wands, bollards, radios, CCTV, etc.). Contact service providers and vendors to ensure equipment is maintained.
  • Ensure all posts are safe, in order, and clean.
  • Ensure daily checklist items and being completed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate department’s office supply needs
  • Have full knowledge of Desert Diamond Arena’s Fire Life Safety systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable and maintain the venue’s incident management system, ISS
  • Must be knowledgeable of the venue’s access control and visitor management systems; KeyScan, PassagePoint.
  • Submit work orders for venue repairs.
  • Assist with Building Management requests as needed.
  • Conduct and investigate venue security requests, including review of CCTV digital video footage

Event Security

  • Know and uphold the Security Department’s Prime Directives, most importantly our mission to take reasonable steps to protect the safety and security of our venues’ guests, employees, and assets with respect towards everyone’s dignity and legal rights.
  • Represent Desert Diamond Arena and the Security Department in an exemplary manner.
  • Communicate constantly with Security Manager On-Duty (SMOD) for the action plan for each event.
  • Provide direction to security staff and ensure event requirements are met.
  • Ensure event deployments are completed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the Security Hotline and email for call-offs and replace staff as necessary.
  • Communicate event security related incidents to appropriate building management.
  • Ensure event checklist items are completed in a timely manner
  • Resolve escalated security situations, provide appropriate warnings, and complete ejections if warranted/necessary.
  • Ensure staff enforcement and guest compliance of the venue’s Event Policies at all times.
  • Assist with directional and informational inquiries. Serve as escalation point for complaints/issues.
  • Review, correct, and distribute all major/minor incident documentation to appropriate personnel.

Emergency Training and Response

  • Have full knowledge of arena’s emergency procedures.
  • Communicate emergency situations to appropriate building management.
  • Track and document all emergency incidents utilizing ISS and other incident management systems.
  • Work closely and take direction from the SMOD when instructed.

Supervisory Responsibilities           

  • Deploy staff to their assigned posts.
  • Assign appropriate shifts, breaks, and necessary equipment.
  • Conduct periodic post checks and correct any performance issues.
  • Train staff in basic guest service and security skills and capable of performing duties at all assigned posts.
  • Actively monitor officers’ interactions with Desert Diamond Arena’s guests, clients, artists/athletes, and team members at all times to ensure a safe, secure, comfortable entertainment experience for all.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff. Serve as mentor/coach to all Security team members.
  • Provide timely, appropriate feedback to officers on performance, both positive and corrective. Effectively communicate escalated team member issues to the Security Management Team.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities, motivate staff, and lead by example

Education and/or Experience          

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1 to 2 years related experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Supervisory experience desired

Skills and Abilities  

  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills required
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule staff
  • Excellent good customer service and public relations skills
  • Experience interacting effectively and calmly with angry/emotional guests or in intensely aggravated circumstances
  • Willingness to accept additional responsibility and assignments
  • Ability to represent the Security Department in an exemplary manner. 
  • Ability to maintain good business relations with all the employees and managers in other departments. 
  • Ability to effectively perform in crises and work under pressure without the loss of composure. 
  • Ability to memorize, recollect, and quickly retrieve relevant information.  
  • Ability to maintain guest, employee and company confidentiality.
