Answering to the Assistant Manager, Security and Life Safety, the Security Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation of the department, during their given shift. Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
While primarily situated in the Control Centre, oversee day to day operations within the complex.
With Controller(s), ensure the appropriate allocation and dispersal of guard resources.
Ensure Controller(s) are appropriately tracking all guard activities and incidents.
Ensure Property Management is kept apprised of all tenant issues/concerns within their portfolio.
Personally administer/review all pass-on processes, to ensure the effective transmission of accurate and relevant information.
Where the Controller assigned to either the Dispatcher or Facility Controller role is absent from the control centre, the Security Supervisor is expected to assume this role, in addition to their own.
Oversee all incidents within the complex.
Utilizing video surveillance and radio equipment, ensure response is concurrent with industry best practises, corporate standards, and legislation / criminal code of Canada.
Ensure allocation of staff to each incident is balanced against the overall security of the complex.
Ensure all internal and external communication is indicative of a professional department.
Monitor all phone calls from tenants, visitors, and management.
Monitor and make primary use of central control email account, ensuring timely and professional correspondence. Ensure proper distribution of information.
Monitor ‘Angus Anywhere’ software; ensuring that all tickets are accepted, actioned, and closed in a ensuring timely and professional manner.
In concert with management, monitor overall conduct and performance of all subordinate staff.
Ensure all staff maintain a high standard of dress, deportment, and discipline, with all deficiencies communicated to security management in a timely manner.
Ensure guard staff are maintaining regular communication with Control, with regards to their movement and activities.
Provide guidance / clarification on site policy.
Provide ongoing mentorship of assigned Controller(s) and Security Team Lead(s) (3rd Party).
Carry our continuation training with teams, ensuring that the sessions are appropriately documented.
Provide security management with a monthly assessment of the strengths and areas for improvement for all subordinate staff.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all incidents.
Personally review all incident reports generated by assigned team.
Ensure staff are completing reports in accordance with established timelines.
Carry out biweekly audit of open reports; actioning via the Security Team Lead (3rd Party) and/or escalating to the Security and Life Safety Manager as required.
Ensure weekly guard training requirements are met.
Generate lesson plans based upon assigned topics.
Oversee execution of guard training schedules.
In concert with the Systems Technician, ensure regular, ongoing control centre training for Senior Guards.
In concert with security management, oversee all inspections, audits, or departmental secondary duties within the complex.
Ensure all inspections, audits, or departmental secondary duties are carried out in accordance with the posted schedule and site standards.
Review and approve all inspection reports.
Ensure that all noted deficiencies are appropriately escalated.
Ensure that the individuals carrying out each inspection are adequately trained.
In concert with the 3rd party Team Lead, conduct spot checks on the execution of inspections.
Ensure that the tasks detailed, for your given shift, in the Supervisor’s Administrative Schedule are completed.
Ensure the regular maintenance of your assigned secondary duties.Ensure that the Control Centre (proper) is being maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
Inspect all documentation within the control centre for completeness, accuracy, and current relevance.
Where outdated documentation exists, file or destroy in accordance with site standards and/or policy.
Ensure all auditing is complete and accurate
Regularly review all internal audits for completeness and accuracy.
Regularly review all external audits for completeness and accuracy.
Regularly review all internal audits for completeness and accuracy.
Regularly audit the Supervisor’s Administrative Schedule for completeness and accuracy.
Where deficiencies exist, bring them to the immediate attention of the Security and Life Safety Manager.
Any other secondary duty(s) as dictated by operational necessity.
