The primary purpose of this position is to provide principal program management for security forces resource protection, crime prevention, police services, law enforcement, investigations, and traffic activities in support of an AFRC host installation/wing. Supervisory duties are performed less than 25 percent of the work year.

Major Duties:

  • DUTY 1: Resource Protection and Crime Prevention Program Manager. DUTY 2: Police Services Program Manager. Security Forces Investigations Program Manager. DUTY 3: Performs personnel supervisory/management responsibilities. Evidence Custodian. DUTY 4: Assists in Security and Force Protection Program and Operations activities. Develops Security Forces plans for program areas. DUTY 5: Provides assistance to the Chief of Security Forces and Chief, Security Forces Operations Branch and performs other auxiliary and Security Forces functions, as required

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administration and Management positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge to apply a multitude of security forces and security principles, concepts, policies, practices, and methods in executing the various program manager responsibilities. Individual must have sufficient knowledge to, in some cases, perform independent work and apply own judgment in providing recommendations and advice, or taking programmatic actions, towards resolving security issues. This includes being able to factually evaluate and weigh variables to include cost, personnel considerations, directives, technological alternatives, etc. Employee must possess comprehensive knowledge in the specialty of physical security, resource protection, crime prevention, police services, law enforcement, investigations, and traffic in order to work and resolve questions, issues, and conditions affecting the security of the insta1lation/wing resources. OR EDUCATION: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of security, security forces, force protection/antiterrorism, resource protection, crime prevention, police services, law enforcement, investigations, and traffic program directives, policies, instructions, specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices to independently make decisions and recommendations and manage program area. 2. Knowledge of the AFRC overall and AFRC Security Forces missions, functions, and structure at the unit level to ensure effective implementation and oversight of program plans and processes. 3. Able to conduct surveys, assessments, and projects and effectively evaluate results for the management and completion of programs. 4. Able to read and understand written and oral directives and guidance, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals, both orally and in writing. 5. Ability to effectively organize and manage various program activities and tasks, singularly and together, and familiarity with Air Force, AFRC, and local administrative requirements. 6. Skill in handling, using, and qualifying with various types of small arms weapons, and able to be armed for duties; Understand civilian personnel guidelines and the installation/wing labor agreement.
