Job Summary: This position is part of the Department of War Information Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a principal security advisor to the Director, DWIA with responsibility for planning, managing, and coordinating the full range of security programs and services for the DWIA world-wide organization.

Major Duties:

  • As a Security Specialist at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as a senior security specialist for DWIA and advisor to SES level Command senior-leaders regarding a wide array of programs that include Insider Threat (InT), Antiterrorism (AT)/Force Protection (FP), Physical Security, Unauthorized Disclosure and Continuity of Operations (COOP). Primary POC on InT policy, doctrine, training, evaluation, and program implementation within DWIA and with external organizations to include DOW, NITTF, Military Services, and other Federal interagency activities. Coordinates InT-related requests for support with internal and external stakeholders who include the DoW Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC) and higher-level CI, LE, intelligence agencies and officials. Manages tasks and cases for reports and referrals flowing in and out of the InT Hub and Working Group. Ensures the Hub is operating within appropriate authorities and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Develops and manages DWIA AT/FP, Physical Security, UD and Security Education, Training, And Awareness (SETA) programsThis position requires substantive knowledge of the rules and regulations governing a multi-function security program.

Qualifications: You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Assisting with planning, managing, and coordinating security programs and services for a world-wide organization and participating in formulation of policies, standards, procedures, and methods, and their application. Applying a wide range of security administration programs and countermeasures to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems concerning the unauthorized release of classified information to foreign governments and individuals and the protection of agency technologies. Accessing, collecting, examining, and analyzing data and other information from a myriad of sources sufficient to establish possible threat associations, detect trends, develop subject profiles. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
