Job Description
As a Security Operations Specialist you will directly supervise GM site security leaders and provide quality assurance oversight for contracted site security teams at assigned GM sites located in the United States. You will support security and fire protection operational activities and oversee risk identification and mitigation efforts. You will advise the business unit and site leadership on security and fire protection, and support implementation and compliance with global security policies and standards. This position will also partner with GM and security service provider Security Site Leaders (SSL's) to support and coordinate enterprise security training development and administration.
Directly supervise GM site security leaders and provide leadership, coaching, and performance management support.
Provide quality assurance oversight and functional direction for contracted security provider site security leaders and security teams.
Support assigned security and fire protection operations in alignment with Global Security standards, policies, and procedures.
Coach and support site security leadership and service suppliers to improve consistency, performance, and understanding of core responsibilities.
Partner with site and functional leadership to address security concerns, assess risk, and ensure satisfaction with security services.
Support local implementation of corporate security policies, SOPs, and governance requirements.
Support annual site security vulnerability assessments, corrective action tracking, and risk mitigation follow-up.
Ensure adequate security staffing and coverage to meet GM minimum requirements.
Provide quality assurance oversight for contracted security and fire protection services, including incident reporting quality and SLA performance.
Support security investigations, ensuring incidents are properly reported, documented, and communicated in accordance with procedures.
Conduct or support after-action reviews following significant incidents, identify trends, and support corrective action completion.
Partner with GM Investigations and Security Technology teams to support incident follow-up and identify opportunities for system upgrades based on lifecycle, risk reduction, and efficiency.
Support implementation and execution of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and coordination with Emergency Response Coordinating Teams (ERCTs).
Communicate significant security issues, risks, and trends to Global Security leadership and site stakeholders.
Drive engagement and development of Security leaders and teams in support of security and safety excellence.
Enhance security training programs to increase safety of people and sites.
Establish a site security leader training council to drive engagement and advances to security operations globally.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Security Management, Fire Prevention and Protection, Emergency Management, Public Safety, or a related field
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in corporate security, emergency response, fire protection, or related operational roles.
Experience supervising or leading security personnel.
Demonstrated experience supporting site-level security operations in a complex, multi-site environment.
Working knowledge of emergency response planning, incident management, and security operations governance.
Working knowledge of video surveillance systems, access control, and security technologies.
Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Background in Firefighting, EMS, or Public Safety.
Experience with vulnerability assessments, corrective action tracking, or compliance reviews.
Familiarity with contract security oversight or vendor performance management.
Experience supporting enterprise or regional security initiatives.
Experience with Avigilon and Lenel systems.
