Job Description Summary

The Primary responsibility of the Security Officers is the safety and security of employees, property, information, and the reputation of the Par Health St. Louis Plant, which is located at 3600 North Second Street, St. Louis, MO 63147.

Job Description

Functions include but are not limited to:

  • The prevention of diversion of Schedule I through V pharmaceutical grade narcotics and list one precursor chemicals

  • The protection of the DEA Registrations by following proscribed DEA Rules and Regulations

  • Protection of the Research and Development Buildings as well as Analytical labs

  • The handling of various incoming calls to include sensitive issues and situations concerning:

  • ChemTrec Emergencies

  • Medical Emergency and Product Information worldwide made available to hospitals and Private Physicians reporting patient adverse reaction episodes

  • General Questions concerning Company Products and Locations

  • Integral to emergency responses including chemical releases, medical and fire emergencies

  • Point of contact and coordination with Police and Fire Departments in emergencies

  • Ensuring contractors are on the approved list to enter the site.

  • Control Plant Access & Property of all Employees, Contractors, & Visitors to the site.

  • Twenty-four hour communication and dispatch center for Environmental, Safety, Security, Maintenance and Manufacturing for all plant activities

  • Twenty-four-hour security patrol and surveillance of plant property and parking areas

  • Monitoring ADT Alarm Systems including authorized personnel into lab areas, gates, Security Door entry, Parking Lots, Labs (exit and entry), and temperatures of experiments

  • Control Access of all materials, chemical and mechanical entering and exiting the plant, to include the escorting of the inbound and shipments of raw narcotic material. 

  • All Officers are required to be familiar with the handling of Hazardous Material Spills, Injuries, & Emergency Response.

  • Trained in criminal investigation, sabotage & industrial terrorism

  • All Officers must receive continuing education through local colleges in the following areas: the St. Louis Police Department for Private Industrial Security, relative to current Industrial Security Standards; criminal law including workplace violence; and firearms training

  • Position not only requires the ability to enforce all Company Policy and Procedures but must also enforce all applicable state laws.

  • The Security Officer must be proficient in the proper use of force to protect employees, visitors and company property.  They must be exceptionally proficient in this regard because of the inherent liabilty of the company

Education: 

  • Graduate of Accredited Law Enforcement Academy.

Experience:

  • 5 years of Law Enforcement.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Armed & Licensed by St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Skills/Competencies:

The position requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills.  The Security officer must be able to express Company Policy to a variety of individuals.  Many times this verbal communication must be accomplished in potential hostile situations. The Officers also must make written reports of all incidents.

Other Skills:

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

Security Officers/Guards report directly to the Site Security Director.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  

Must be flexible and responsive to the demands of the business environment as well as the potential security risks to chemical manufacturing plants in the U.S.  Security Officers work rotating shifts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $33.85. and will be increasing to $35.03 in March.
