Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a SECURITY OFFICER in the 1st MAW SECMAN of III MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. Major Duties:

  • You will coordinate with program managers ensuring all headquarters personnel, both military and civilian, are screened for appropriate security clearance upon joining the command.
  • You will review and determine appropriate clearance and access requirements, processing of documents for clearance and access, and periodic reevaluations and crosschecks.
  • You will manage the Defense Information Security System (DISS) as the main tool for security clearance issues and initiate Personnel Security Investigations (PSI) to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
  • You will establish local policy and oversight for accounting, control, classification, marking, storage, transmission, dissemination, destruction, printing, reproduction, and copying of such documents.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring classified information is always protected, to include working hours, after working hours, deployments, and during emergency situations.
  • You will develop and implement Physical Security Program which controls access to the various departments, sections, and office spaces that are located both within and external to the building.
  • You will provide the most effective Automated Information Systems (AIS) security program, the incumbent establishes and coordinates local security policies.
  • You will ensure computer security awareness is maintained at proper levels and ensure all documentation is reviewed and updated whenever significant changes affect the security of information systems.
  • You will develop procedures for investigating, reporting, and implementing corrective measures due to breaches.
  • You will conduct security studies, site surveys, and inspections and monitor broad spectrum of disciplines from counterintelligence to electronic information processing to ensure an effective, robust program.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing security program policy guidance; developing security training and/or education; and providing recommendations for all security program matters (e.g., Information and Personnel Security Program). Conditions of Employment: The incumbent must be able to deploy as part of the 1st MAW, Command Deck Staff in support of 1st MAW Field Exercises, Command Post Exercises, and real-world contingency operations both on and off the Island of Okinawa, specifically Pacific Rim allied countries. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. This position has been designated as a Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) position in the DoD SPeD Certification Program. Please see attached Appendix A - SPeD Determination Worksheet - PD Addendum for certification requirement(s).
