Security Manager - Special Events

SUMMARY

The Security Manager – Special Events is accountable for the strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of all security operations supporting on-property events, including high-profile corporate programs, social galas, luxury weddings, VIP activations, and large-scale gatherings. This role ensures the safety of guests, talent, and associates while upholding the brand’s commitment to an elevated, seamless luxury experience. The position champions a culture of service excellence, risk mitigation, and operational precision consistent with world-class hospitality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

  • Lead the development and execution of security strategies for all special events, including comprehensive reviews of BEOs, event schematics, and risk assessments to ensure a controlled and secure operating environment.
  • Conduct advance planning for crowd dynamics, threat exposure, and emergency contingencies tailored to event type, guest profile, and venue layout.
  • Supervise event security personnel, ensuring professional post assignments, pre-event briefings, and adherence to brand standards of conduct and guest interaction.

  • Provide on-site leadership during event operations, reinforcing accountability, communication discipline, and hazard awareness among associates.

  • Manage all access control protocols, including guest, vendor, and production crew screening, credential issuance, and backstage/BOH movement control to maintain secure zones and protect sensitive areas.

  • Coordinate discreet, detail-oriented support for VIPs, corporate executives, and high-visibility guests, ensuring privacy, secure transit, and alignment with client and brand expectations.

  • Serve as the primary liaison to Banquets, Catering, Events, Engineering, Front Office, and local public safety partners to synchronize security operations with event execution.
  • Maintain real-time situational oversight to support crowd management, enforce safety policies, and proactively identify emerging risks
  • Respond to all incidents, medical emergencies, and disturbances in accordance with established hotel protocols and industry standards.

    · Produce detailed incident documentation, event logs, and post-event debriefs, including risk-reduction recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Assist in daily property-wide security operations during non-event periods, supporting routine patrols, investigations, and emergency readiness initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3–5+ years of progressively responsible security experience within luxury hospitality, event management, entertainment venues, or equivalent high-guest-volume environments.
  • · Supervisory or team-lead experience required, with demonstrated ability to manage diverse security teams in dynamic settings.
  • · Strong knowledge of emergency response protocols, crowd management principles, threat mitigation, and de-escalation techniques.
  • · Exceptional guest-service orientation, polished communication skills, and the ability to represent the brand with professionalism and discretion.
  • · First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
  • · Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and fluctuating schedules dictated by the event calendar

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to move quickly to reach different outlets and other departments of the Resort on a timely basis. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

 The pay scale for Security Manager is $72,2000 to $82,000.

The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
