Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits).
SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brands in the portfolio include Serengeti Lite, Guinness, Pilsner and SIB. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international world-class spirits brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Bailey’s and Captain Morgan.
Role Purpose
The Security Manager is tasked with safeguarding Diageo's assets, property, products, and information in Tanzania by implementing robust security measures across all sites. This management role requires strategic oversight to prevent theft, misuse, abuse, and destruction while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Development & Implementation:
- Develop comprehensive security policies and procedures specific to the Tanzanian market.
- Monitor adherence to established standards and address any breaches of protocol promptly.
Intelligence Gathering & Dissemination:
- Collect, analyze, and distribute industrial, market, and security intelligence reports to senior management.
- Facilitate proactive decision-making through timely insights into potential threats or opportunities within the Tanzanian context.
Incident Investigation & Liaison:
- Lead investigations into serious crimes or incidents affecting company interests in Tanzania.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, legal representatives, and government authorities to ensure thorough resolution.
- Provide detailed feedback to management on investigation outcomes and recommended actions.
Safety & Risk Management:
- Champion safety initiatives across all Tanzanian sites by enforcing rigorous risk management practices.
- Cultivate a culture where safety is prioritized as the number one business imperative among all team members.
Contractor Performance Oversight:
- Manage relationships with security contractors to ensure optimal performance in line with contractual obligations.
- Conduct regular evaluations of contractor services to maintain high standards of site security.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Mentor and develop the internal security team by providing training opportunities that enhance skills in modern security practices.
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement within the team through constructive feedback and support.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations related to corporate security operations in Tanzania.
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing security activities, incidents, resolutions, and strategic recommendations for future improvements.
Qualifications and experience required
Qualification
- A tertiary qualification /degree in a discipline related to the role will be added advantage. (E.g. including, but not exclusively, a qualification in Security /Risk Management, Law, Criminal Justice, Strategic or Political or Cultural Studies, etc).
- Minimum education of level Diploma certificate in conventional physical security and crime prevention.
- Diploma certificate in advanced military police security operations.
- Courses in firefighting, investigation, fraud awareness and prevention. Intelligence training Experience.
Experience
- 5 - 10 years working experience with the Security Com an as a Senior Officer.
- Having background as former Law enforcement agent, military, or intelligence services agent will be an added advantage.
- Appropriate security industry experience in the areas of security risk assessment, security risk management, security strategy & planning, and preventative security measures.
- Legal aspects/litigation process.
