THE ROLE
The Security Manager is responsible for the safety and security of Desert Diamond Arena patrons, employees, and its assets while interacting with patrons, vendors and employees in a courteous and professional manner. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for the performance and conduct of all security officers assigned to the watch for day-to-day 24-hour security operations as well as event security and will coach, train, and develop security officers and supervisors. This position is responsible for ensuring implementation of and compliance with all legal and ethical instructions and policies established by Legends Global or Desert Diamond Arena management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee the day-to-day 24-hour security operations and event security at Desert Diamond Arena including scheduling & payroll of all security officers and supervisors, forecasting staffing needs for each event including estimates aligned with budget & service expectations.
· Responsible for developing & issuing post-orders to event security staff, and overall department oversight as directed by leadership and aligned with core KPIs.
· Conducts regular security risk assessments for the facility and events and recommends mitigation strategies to senior leadership.
· Primary steward for the creation and conducting of department SOPs, on-going training, including annual departmental training, as well as annual Emergency Procedures training for the entire facility and all full-time and part-time staff, contractors, and vendors.
· Oversee facility access & critical equipment via the issuance and oversight of physical keys, arena credentials, radio inventory and allocation, CCTV equipment, and medical equipment.
· Responsible for performing security advances with touring shows & security teams to develop and implement event-specific security plans in coordination with all stakeholders.
· Responsible for the quality and accuracy of all event & 24-hour logs and incident reports generated, along with appropriate notification and resolution.
· Create and maintain business relationships with stakeholders and arena partners including the City of Glendale, Law Enforcement Agencies, and neighboring businesses.
· Perform all other duties as assigned or directed by leadership.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
One full-time direct report: Assistant Security Manager.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, separation recommendations, training employees, and firing; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
· A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree in related field or comparable work experience.
· A minimum of five years of related work experience, with at least two years’ experience supervising a security department.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE OR WILLINGNESS TO OBTAIN
· Certified Trained Crowd Manager.
· Certified Sport Security Professional Certification (CSSP) through NCS4.
· Graduate of IAVM’s Venue Management School and/or Academy of Venue Safety & Security.
· Completed ICS/NIMS 100, 200, 300, 700, and 800.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· A basic understanding of the rule of law and relevant penal codes: public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.
· A basic understanding of budget management and financial controls and workflows.
· An understanding of how to manage part-time event staff and utilize effective labor control measures such as redeployment tactics and other associated best practices.
· Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate staff and lead by example and ability to maintain good business relations with internal teams, law enforcement, and other external partners.
· Sound judgement and decision-making under pressure in dynamic, high-stress environments.
· Ability to interact effectively and calmly with angry or emotional patrons and employees during intensely aggravated circumstances.
· A good understanding of the guest services and security team role within an arena.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Location: Desert Diamond Arena, 9400 W. Maryland Ave, Glendale, AZ 85305
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts in support of events and 24/7 operations.

· Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and traverse the facility before, during, and after events.
· Must be able to work in loud environments and in indoor/outdoor conditions including varied weather.
· Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds without assistance.
