Major Duties:

  • Manages Security Forces squadron vehicles and vehicle equipment. Directs, obtains, maintains, and provides for proper usage of Security Forces vehicles and vehicle equipment in order to meet unit objectives. Analyzes the vehicle readiness of the squadron through evaluation of training and equipment. Provides recommendations, critiques, and actual accomplishment of tasks such as formulation of local vehicle procedures and operating instructions, and unit administration. Manages day-to-day Security Forces vehicle and vehicle equipment budget activities including tracking funds distribution, reconciling commitments/obligations, and reallocating organizational funds. Independently performs a variety of budgetary, administrative, and statistical functions to support budget formulation for Security Forces vehicle and vehicle equipment budget/financial issues. Works with MAJCOM, wing, group and unit budget staff to obtain, monitor, and track the organization's vehicle and vehicle equipment funds. Manages the government vehicle IMPAC credit card and fuel key program .. Follows established guidelines for the conduct of the program. Keeps formal accounting records of each purchase. Maintains up-to-the-minute account balances. Conducts extensive research, develops, and maintains a source list of responsible service providers. Certifies bank statements against all purchases for accountability. Resolves any discrepancies/incorrect charges with the service provider. Drives one or more types of trucks, such as pickup, panel, and flatbed trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight of 2,500 pounds or more, on public roads at highway speeds. Picks up items from base transportation and local vendors or suppliers, Delivers items to work sites. Checks routine items on the vehicle checklist (such as oil, tire pressure, windshield washer fluids, power steering fluids, gas, etc.). Keeps assigned vehicle in good appearance and assures it is in top-notch condition for periodic vehicle inspections.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions Series 0086. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Current and Prior Federal Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or External Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include practical knowledge of specialized security methods, rules, regulations, principles, and procedures to resolve a wide range of problems and perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard security assignments such as determining the kinds of information and supporting data required, and criteria to be applied, in clearance adjudication processes; knowledge of information and operation security to review classified material, classification markings, accountability and control, declassification, and destruction procedures. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Current or Prior Federal Employee: One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. External Applicants: One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a range of security forces policies (i.e. physical, operational, electronic security), procedures, and practices. Knowledge of overall security forces missions, functions, and structure. Knowledge of automated data management systems. Ability to conduct surveys, assessments, and evaluations of SF equipment inventory utilization to determine unit combat readiness and the return on investment value for future management decisions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
