POSITION SUMMARY:

The Demand Planning & SIOP Lead is responsible for developing and leading the strategic roadmap and implementation plan for all demand planning and SIOP activity across the Defense Systems sector. This role will be charged with collaborating across functions (Engineering, Program Management, Global Supply Chain, Finance, and Contracts) to integrate all forecasting, demand planning, and long-term capacity planning and scheduling into a sector wide process that can be implemented and used across all divisions. This position will guide, mentor, and develop planning teams and leaders across the sector to adopt a best-in-class demand planning, forecasting, and SIOP cadence and structure to drive On-time Delivery, Schedule Attainment, Program Cost, and Program Execution.

Demand Planning & SIOP Lead responsibilities:  

Forecasting & Demand Planning

  • Develop and implement sector wide governance, standards, and processes for best-in-class program forecasting, demand planning, and demand management
  • Work with Business Development, Contracts, Program Management, and Global Supply Chain to develop and maintain unconstrained demand plans to use for material, program, and labor forecasting and long-term planning
  • Evaluate and recommend capital investment projects (equipment, facilities, automation) to close capacity gaps on the longer-term planning horizon
  • Influence, guide, and train site planning teams on using the MRP system for demand input to drive downstream planning activity and teams
  • Create and standardize an Advanced Material Planning (AMP) process to be used for pro-active material planning and risk mitigation
  • Work with the mfg. teams to integrate capacity planning and scheduling into long-term planning (Scheduling baselines and long-range capabilities)

Sales, Inventory, & Operations Planning (SIOP)

  • Create a standard SIOP process and playbook to be used across the sector, while training, guiding, and leading sites to adopt and implement (Demand, Supply, Reconciliation, and Executive reviews)
  • Chair the SIOP process, aligning sales forecasts, inventory policies, and operational capabilities into a single, executable plan for each site across a long-term horizon
  • Facilitate cross functional SIOP meetings, drive consensus on demand and supply balancing, and secure senior leadership approval of the final plan
  • Track SIOP performance metrics (forecast/demand accuracy, schedule attainment, OTD, demand changes) and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plan quality
  • Assist sites in developing and implementing an S&OE (Sales and Operations Execution) cadence to track performance against the approved SIOP plan

Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives

  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints (TOC) methodologies to improve plan reliability and reduce manufacturing lead times
  • Lead regular performance reviews (schedule adherence, forecast/demand accuracy, demand management) and drive corrective action plans
  • Serve as the POC for the SAP/S4 implementation project for all demand planning and SIOP activity and functions

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, coach, and mentor a high performing planning organization (demand planners and SIOP leads)
  • Establish clear KPIs, career development paths, and succession plans for the team.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering, business development, and program management to incorporate new product introductions (NPIs) into the IMS and SIOP.
  • Work closely with finance on integrating AOP into the SIOP plans

The successful candidate will possess the following competencies and skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, matrixed teams and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex planning concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong quantitative skills; comfortable with statistical forecasting, simulation modeling, and scenario analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or Supply Chain with 8 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience
  • 8+ years progressive experience in manufacturing operations.
  • At least 3 years in a senior planning, scheduling, or SIOP leadership role
  • ERP expertise (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Cost Point).
  • Experience working with data analytics tools (SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience working with Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) systems (e.g., SAP APO, Kinaxis Rapid Response, Oracle Demantra).
  • Proven application of Lean, Six Sigma, and TOC principles.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain high performing teams.
  • Proven ability to take ownership and be accountable with an “owners” mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, an exceptional self-starter attitude, and the ability to produce in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance up to Top Secret

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or a related field.
  • ASCM or APICS certified – CPIM or CSCP
  • Experience in high mix, low volume or make-to-order environments.
  • Background in leading SIOP implementations

Primary Level Salary Range: $145,000.00 - $217,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
