The Section Lead Data Products and Modelling will support the development of the synthetic pipeline molecules and the manufacture of Drug Substance and Drug Product for clinical studies and launch commercial campaigns.
As the Section Lead Data Products and Modelling within Synthetic Molecules Process Development, you will lead a dynamic group of data scientists, process modelers, and automation engineers. You will be critical in leveraging advanced data analytics, mechanical modeling, and real-time monitoring to accelerate and synergize our process development efforts for synthetic molecules, ultimately delivering quality products to patients.
Lead and Inspire: Cultivate a high-performing team environment, fostering strong team spirit, high motivation, and a clear sense of urgency to achieve both immediate and long-term strategic goals.
Drive Innovation & Synergy: Accelerate the impact of mechanical modeling, advanced data analytics, and real-time monitoring across Drug Substance (DS) and Drug Product (DP) projects. Grow relationships with Universities and external research consortia to help Roche stay at the forefront of Process Modeling.
Scale-Up Expertise: Guide the scaling-up of chemical processes from lab to manufacturing scale using multi-purpose equipment, while also defining robust scale-down conditions for laboratory process development.
Process Design Integration: Ensure that essential engineering considerations, including quality and safety (SHE) requirements, are built into the process design from the earliest stages.
Strategic Change Agent: Act as a visible change and connecting agent across Synthetic Molecules units, championing continuous improvement, flexible mindsets, and open collaboration.
Operational Excellence: Continuously enhance our work processes to improve efficiency, support laboratory operations, and ensure robust manufacturing campaigns for both commercial and investigational medicinal product (IMP) drug substances.
Goal Setting & Collaboration: Contribute to establishing departmental strategic goals and objectives, ensuring seamless collaboration across technical development sections, and providing constructive feedback.
Global Impact: Become a key contributor within Pharma Technical Development (PTD), helping efficiently transform scientific ideas into reliable products delivered to patients worldwide.
We are looking for a visionary leader with a deep technical foundation in engineering and a passion for data-driven innovation in the pharmaceutical industry.
Advanced Education: You hold a higher education (at least Master's level) in Chemical, Pharmaceutical, or Process Engineering, or a closely related field, complemented by 10+ years of relevant experience.
Technical Domain Expertise: You possess proven experience in process engineering/modeling within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry, coupled with strong knowledge of chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical processes, or data science and process optimization.
Data Passion: You have a demonstrated passion for new technologies, techniques, and the ability to drive business results with data-based insights and process modeling.
Conceptual & Detail-Oriented Thinker: You possess strong conceptual thinking skills, comfortable working at the detailed project level while also abstracting learnings into general workflows and strategic approaches.
Collaborative Partner: You are comfortable working with a wide range of internal and external partners and functional teams, with excellent teamwork and communication skills to drive close business collaboration.
Change Management & Role Model: You act as a role model and catalyst for change management, proactively supporting project teams with your technical expertise and championing new ideas.
