Job Summary: Secretary (OA), GS-318-06, This position is located at a commissary store within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system. The primary purpose of this position is to perform secretarial, administrative, general clerical, and typing (office automation) duties and responsibilities. The incumbent may also perform personnel and payroll liaison assignments and supply-related duties in support of the store. Read the entire announcement before starting the application process.

Major Duties:

  • Major Duties Sets up and maintains files according to DECA filing system Performs periodic inventory of files and purges outdated information. Receives and reviews all incoming correspondence and reports. Maintains appointment calendar for the store director, scheduling and rescheduling appointments and meetings as necessary. Uses the full range of office automation equipment and word processing software to produce a variety of documents. Serves as the personnel liaison between the commissary and the HR Service Provider performing duties identified fur the Store Personnel Point of Contact. Serves as the payroll liaison between customer service representatives in the region Resources Management Division to resolve payroll situations within the store. Read the entire job announcement. Qualifications: You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 0318 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, superior academic achievement, or a combination of experience and education to qualify. Experience: One (1) year of (specialized experience) equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying experience include: Using a full range of office automation software (spreadsheets, databases, word documents} to perform tasks for the store. Facilitating payroll issues to the customer service representatives for action. Scheduling appointments and keeping appointment calendars for management personnel. You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 0318 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of experience conducting job analysis, posting vacancies in an automated system, advising management on a variety of recruitment authorities and techniques, evaluating applicants for eligibility and qualifications, creating and issuing referral certificates, making job offers and onboarding personnel, and preparing and auditing personnel actions for accuracy and regulatory compliance (specialized experience) equivalent to at least GS-11. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) basic requirement and qualifications for series 0318 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Physical requirements: (1) The work is primarily sedentary with the incumbent normally working at a desk. There is some bending, standing, walking and carrying of light items. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
