GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Adjunct HVAC Instructor will provide high-quality instruction in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technologies to secondary students enrolled at the Vicksburg Warren Career & Technical Center. The instructor will deliver daily lessons aligned with Mississippi CTE curriculum standards and industry best practices, while maintaining a safe, engaging, and professional learning environment. This position requires a strong knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, and safety procedures, as well as the ability to effectively teach and mentor high school students.
Provide daily instruction in HVAC theory, safety, and hands-on technical skills during scheduled class time (7:00–8:00 AM).
Deliver lessons that follow the Mississippi CTE HVAC curriculum and meet district expectations.
Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, and materials while supervising student lab activities.
Establish and maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized classroom and laboratory environment.
Integrate employability and workplace readiness skills into instruction.
Prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, lab activities, and assessments to support student learning.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
Maintain accurate competency records and documentation as required by the district and the Mississippi Department of Education.
Assist students in preparing for industry-recognized certifications as applicable.
Communicate regularly with the CTE Director, school counselors, and other staff regarding student progress, instructional needs, and program updates.
Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
Assist with maintaining program equipment and making recommendations for needed supplies or repairs.
Support recruitment efforts and promote the HVAC program within the school and community.
Maintain accurate daily attendance and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Follow all district, state, and federal policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Ensure compliance with CTE program standards and documentation requirements.
Perform additional responsibilities that support the mission and goals of the Career & Technical Center as directed by appropriate administrators.
Relevant HVAC industry experience and technical competency.
Ability to pass required background checks.
Effective communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Current HVAC certification(s) or licensure.
Experience working with high school students or in an educational setting.
Knowledge of Mississippi CTE standards and instructional expectations.
Ability to demonstrate HVAC tasks, operate tools and equipment, and assist students in lab settings.
Ability to lift, move, or handle equipment and materials commonly used in HVAC training environments.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee is occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
