Job Description Summary:

The Quality Assurance Inspector at See's Candies plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our confectionery products. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, a keen eye for identifying defects, and a commitment to maintaining our reputation for excellence.

This is a seasonal union role with the rate of $31.60/hr.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lab technicians in physical testing per assignment.

  • Conduct accurate and timely verifications and quality checks in accordance with company SOPs (weights, temperatures, sensory, and other measurement) and document them in a timely manner in the appropriate paper and/or electronic platform.

  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and Cleaning Verifications, including environmental swabbing.

  • Conduct quality audits for verification of processing steps and Critical Quality parameters

  • Conduct sampling and evaluation of raw materials finished product and packaging.

  • Escalate out of specification product and communicate problems or information to the QA Lead and QA and Operations Management in real time. Document on respective paperwork and/or electronic platform.

  • Provide accurate information for the day’s activities in the department shift report.

  • Support FSQA Inspectors in other areas as needed to complete the shift.

  • Rotate through all areas of FSQA responsibility, including raw materials, enrober, and kitchen.

  • Support additional projects as assigned by the FSQA Management

  • Use Ross, Safety Chain and other electronic platforms to conduct daily Food Quality and Food Safety functions.

  • Conduct routine Safety, facility GMP and QA system audits as assigned by FSQA Management.

  • Able to use radio as primary-supporting immediate communication on the production floor and follow radio etiquette.

  • Must be able to complete and pass QA Inspector training within 10 days.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to read and write English and interpret forms and procedures.

  • Detail oriented, able to put issues in context; able to work independently, good organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple/variety of tasks.

  • Must be a decisive problem solver and work well as part of a team.

  • Intermediate computer skills (Email, Excel, Word, ERP, Safety Chain, etc.).

  • Able to communicate professionally at all times. Ability to keep the Quality Assurance agenda as the top priority.

  • Safe work habits.

  • Able to identify, collect and communicate production quality and efficiency data.

  • Good attendance record/adherence to attendance policy.

  • Mathematical aptitude.

  • Must have strong work ethic and be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Adhere to all GMP’s, Food Safety Rules and Regulations.

  • Able to work day and night shift as needed.

  • Preferred additional Food Safety related certifications or workshop.

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in food science related field or equivalent degree.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to pull and lift up to 25 lbs. of candies/RM/Packaging/equipment on a daily basis.

  • Able to team lift up to 50 lbs. candies/RM/Packaging/equipment on occasion.

  • Able to push/pull sample carts.

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist throughout duration of shift.

  • Able to climb a 12ft ladder.
