Salary Range: $22.42 - $26.16 Per Hour

Job Summary: A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay. The typical seasonal period is May-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2026

Major Duties:

• This is an open continuous announcement. Applicants will be referred throughout the announcement period. Maintenance and construction of graded and paved trails, trail drainage, trail bridges, and guard rails. Engage in the installation, repair and replacement of water diversion bars, cribbing and retainer walls. Removes windfalls, rock slides, surface outcroppings, and debris from trails. Builds up tread surfaces in eroded areas. Installs stepping stones at creek crossings where bridges cannot be constructed. Safely and effectively uses hand power tools required for the job and has the ability maintain these tools properly.

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (including blueprinting reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Experience using an assortment of trail related tools. Any trail tasks performed have been under direct supervision. Limited experience with small equipment.
