Salary Range: $21.82 - $31.68 Per Hour

Job Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to perform work of limited scope or difficulty involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related utilities, and to assist journeyman or other higher graded maintenance workers in performing more difficult assignments associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, roofing, and other related trades.

Major Duties:

  • MAJOR DUTIES: Performs a variety of duties within the full spectrum of maintenance activities, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, janitorial, grounds keeping, buildings, roads, trails and fence repair. Performs trail maintenance on walkways and trails (paved and unpaved) and performs construction and repair work on park's boundary fence. Performs grounds maintenance duties including mowing, fertilizing, and watering lawns, and trimming trees and hedges. You will pick up trash, cleans restrooms and public use buildings, and performs other janitorial work as needed. Work requires lifting and moving heavy items, frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions and may involve some climbing. You will also complete daily work reports. Uses common tools to perform a variety of basic repairs and maintenance, plus operates small gas and electric power tools such as disc grinders, sanders, saws, post augers, riding and push-type mowers, weed trimmers, sweepers, vacuums, floor polishers and other janitorial equipment. Operates motor vehicles and must possess a valid state driver's license. For routine maintenance and repair jobs, you work independently based on oral or written guidance from the supervisor. May assist higher-graded employees with more complex building maintenance, road repair projects and other special projects. This is an open continuous vacancy announcement. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Knowledge of materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Minimum Qualification Screen-Out Experience performing the following under general supervision: operating gasoline vehicles such as powered trucks, farm tractors, and light industrial tractors; AND performing grounds maintenance; AND minor duties in at least one of the carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, or masonry trades to construct, repair, restore buildings, fences, picnic areas, etc.; AND janitorial work without more than normal supervision.
