Salary Range: $19.79 - $27.79 Per Hour

Job Summary: These temporary positions are located in the Pacific West Region. The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY Summer seasonal positions not to exceed 6 months (1,039 hours) work in a service year. Period of service will vary between sites depending on funding, weather conditions, and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending upon work availability and funding.

Major Duties:

  • Multiple Duty Locations & Season of Employment in 2026: Oregon Caves National Park- Cave Junction, OR; March-Sept Summer 2026 Devils Postpile National Monument - Mammoth Lakes, CA; May-Nov Summer 2026 Fort Vancouver National Historic Site - Vancouver, WA; May-Nov Summer 2026 Pinnacles National Park - Paicines, CA, April-Oct Manzanar National Historic Site - Independence, CA, April-Oct Puʻuhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park, Hōnaunau, HI; Aug-Feb DUTIES: Operate heavy power equipment such as lawn mowers, portable snow blowers, and all types of hand tools (such as shovels, rakes, lawn edging equipment, etc.) to maintain buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc. Load and unload supplies and materials from trucks, trailers, dollies, etc., and move furniture. Remove and set up signs, paint picnic tables and signs, rake and water lawns, trim trees and shrubs, pick up litter, etc. Use and maintain heavy type power mowers, including adjusting blades, cleaning, and oiling. Perform janitorial duties for buildings. Physical Demands: The work performed requires the exertion of moderate to very heavy physical effort. The work involves lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds, and in some cases, carrying 80 to 100 pounds (or more) with assistance. Working Conditions: Outside work is usually performed under all kinds of weather conditions. Indoor work is often accomplished in office buildings or in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas such as warehouses, loading docks, or trade shops. Frequently exposed to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust, and dirt and the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes. Work requires the employee to follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes to avoid possible hazards in the work area.

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Have the ability to do the work of a Laborer without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) Work experience such as performed janitorial duties for buildings. Performed manual ground maintenance work, such as digging ditches Hand pulling weeds, and other manual labor tasks. Trim and clear brush, prune trees/shrubs, using axes, hatchets, chainsaws, and hand saws, etc. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
