Job Summary: This position is an Administrative Support Assistant, GS- 0303-5 working for either Selawik National Wildlife Refuge in Kotzebue, Alaska or the Maryland Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office in Annapolis, Maryland. There are two vacancies, one at each location. This position performs a full range of office support duties and routine office duties using office automation technology. Major Duties:

  • This is a temporary appointment intended for seasonal work that is less than 6 months or 1040 hours from the date of appointment/service year. It is expected this position will be terminated upon completion of the seasons work. The agency may non-competitively rehire an eligible temporary seasonal worker in subsequent years who works less than 6 months or 1040 hours in their service year. As a Seasonal - Administrative Support Assistant your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Carries out and coordinates all administrative and clerical work for Office. Performs administrative and clerical tasks using work processing, spreadsheet, database management, graphics (charts), and communications software. Use of personnel computers for tasks requiring word processing, spreadsheets, database management, charts and telecommunications.

Qualifications: Only experience and education obtained by 12/12/2025 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualification Requirement. Minimum Qualification [GS-05] Possess one year specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal service. This experience has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: performing administrative functions (payroll, personnel, travel, and/or correspondence); using various office procedures and equipment (spreadsheets computer hardware, database, etc.); compiling budgetary data; assisting with procurement procedures. OR Successfully completed 4 years of education above high school from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). OR A combination of education and experience as listed above. [Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience]. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
