About the Role
Support the Search & Discovery team within the Website Strategy team by proactively improving search visibility and content performance across Elsevier.com. The role focuses on identifying optimisation opportunities, conducting SEO and AI search audits, monitoring performance metrics, and ensuring content follows SEO best practices and supports modern AI-driven search platforms.
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented SEO specialist who enjoys identifying opportunities and continuously improving content performance. The ideal candidate takes initiative to monitor performance, identify optimisation opportunities, and propose improvements rather than waiting for requests. The role suits someone who is comfortable working with data, structured processes, and SEO tools, and who is curious about emerging search trends, including AI-driven search experiences
Responsibilities
Support optimisation of content across Elsevier.com to improve visibility in search engines and AI-driven search experiences.
Monitor search performance and identify opportunities to improve visibility, engagement, and content relevance.
Ensure SEO best practices are consistently applied across priority content areas.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve content quality and search performance
Conduct regular SEO and content audits across priority areas of Elsevier.com to identify optimisation opportunities.
Identify underperforming or outdated pages and recommend improvements to increase visibility and relevance.
Use available tools (including AI-based content analysis tools such as Content Assistant) to assess content quality and SEO performance.
Monitor keyword rankings, search demand trends, and competitor activity.
Track emerging AI-driven search signals and identify opportunities to improve content visibility.
Maintain SEO dashboards and reporting used for performance monitoring and business reviews.
Prepare clear SEO recommendations for content improvements and share insights with relevant stakeholders.
Support the Search & Discovery team and broader Website Strategy team in applying SEO best practices across the site.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital marketing, data analytics, communications, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 2 years+ experience using SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMRush & ScreamingFrog or similar platforms.
Understanding of core SEO principles including keyword optimisation, metadata, search visibility, and content structure, with awareness of how AI-driven search and generative discovery are shaping modern SEO
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret performance data to identify optimisation opportunities.
Attention to detail and ability to review content for SEO best practice compliance.
Ability to work with structured processes and deliver work with minimal supervision within defined guidelines.
Strong communication skills and ability to present insights and recommendations clearly.
