Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Maintenance Technician 4. This position is located in Huntsville, AL. This position will be responsible for performing maintenance service and repairs in the areas of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, for the support and operation of multiple buildings and systems.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Our maintenance technicians are the proactive front line of facilities by way of inspection and survey to identify problems before they impact operations. Under direction of management, the maintenance technician is expected to perform a variety of tasks, use sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve maintenance deficiencies to prescribed standards. This person must be self-motivated, team oriented, while also able to operate independently. The ideal candidate is capable of creativity and latitude, strong troubleshooting skills, and professional face-to-face communication skills. Candidates must also be knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures associated with industry and company standards. A successful maintenance technician must accept accountability and ownership of the site while being able to provide on-call support. Additional responsibilities include supporting weather events, addressing equipment failure or other disasters including equipment and power failures, loss of contracted services, storms or severe weather, schedule conflicts, and other duties as required. A heavy emphasis will be placed on electrical experience (specifically mission critical and power distribution applications).
Essential responsibilities but not limited to the following:
Receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates the requests or problems, and completes the necessary repairs where appropriate.
Performs preventative maintenance and daily inspections as prescribed through a developed workflow plan and meets company standards.
Able to inspect and diagnose problems and determine corrective repairs. Completes repairs, and preparation of common facilities and buildings. Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
Performs maintenance and repair work to include interior walls, painting, all types of floor covering, raised-floors, structural members, and all other building components as necessary.
Operate, maintain, repair, and install equipment, components, and systems that support the facility and infrastructure.
Performs general repairs to maintain or upgrade facilities, structures, equipment, and utilities.
Conduct inspections to review work while in progress.
Ensure procedures are being followed while making certain the highest quality standards are met.
Review completed site work to verify compliance in accordance with applicable plans, procedures, and all governing codes.
Confer with and advise other management personnel regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
Help perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required.
Maintain accurate records of building/common areas serviced and assist with special projects as required.
Respond in a courteous manner to all questions, complaints, or requests, referring to Management as required.
Perform any other duties within the assigned areas as deemed necessary by management.
Escorting vendors as necessary.
Other duties necessary for the effective operation of the department.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma and 6 years or more of experience in commercial facility maintenance and must have knowledge of common industry standards, practices, and procedures within the maintenance field.
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
Must have extensive knowledge and experience in the use of hand and power tools as well as a strong mechanical aptitude.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to learn other specific programs and databases specific to the organization.
Must be able to independently lift a minimum of 35 pounds, climb ladders and stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with troubleshooting and diagnostics for building equipment.
Ability to manage daily activities to maintain buildings with little supervision.
Install, repair and replace various locks (cylindrical, mortise, panic hardware), door closers and electrical access systems.
Ability to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software (CMMS) like Maximo, Tririga or L2l to log work orders and track inventory.
Service and maintain existing lock hardware, including safes and desk locks.
Forklift/ Aerial lift training.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
