Position Summary
We are looking for a software developer in test (SDET) to join the our team. This is an inclusive group of software developers, SRE, QA, and field support staff who value collaboration, creative problem-solving, and continued learning. Our team is responsible for critical hardware and software applications used by 20,000+ field technicians to diagnose and repair customer-impacting issues within the Access Network. We also develop and maintains multiple RF monitoring software platforms. These tools provide near real-time analysis of Comcast’s 50 million cable modems and associated network components, detect problems, and notify the correct fix agents.
This SDET position will work with geographically distributed team to help develop, execute, and maintain a variety of test suites for web UI and APIs. You will play a key role in reducing manual testing and improving code quality by building out automated testing across multiple products.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Automated testing: Design, develop, and maintain automated tests (integration, regression, performance, load testing, etc.) using scripting language and functional (manual) testing. Integrate automated tests into a CI/CD pipeline. Maintain test code in a version control system.
- Performance testing: Responsible for creating and maintaining performance test scripts for load, stress, and scalability scenarios, and analyzing system behavior to identify bottlenecks. Works closely with engineering and SRE teams to integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and improve system reliability. Requires hands‑on experience with tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, and monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace and Grafana.
- Documentation: Create automated testing documentation and metrics, including automation Test Plans/strategies/test data management/Test Summary Reports.
- Troubleshooting: Debug test failures and work with development teams to resolve issues. Analyze, diagnose, and repair broken test cases.
- Collaboration: Participate in code reviews of automation scripts and provide feedback on the quality and maintainability of the code. Work with Product Owners, Stakeholders, and Engineers to understand software requirements, and define technical test solutions.
- Leadership: Provide technical leadership on practices, procedures, and techniques. Mentor junior-level QA engineers.
- Professionalism: Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work outside core business hours and variable schedule(s) as necessary.
