SCUK Financial Crime Officer - 12 month FTC/Secondment

We have 4 exciting opportunities to join our Financial Crime teams for a 12 month FTC/Secondment.

Reporting to the AML Manager, this role focuses on the ‘Commissions’ project in which SCUK will redress up to 1.25m individuals and entities.

You will undertake controls operated by the financial crime team at the direction of the AML Manager and to support wider project requirements. The work must be of good quality and meet SCUK’s policies and procedures and SLAs.

Please note this role is a hybrid role with at least 3 days a week in the Redhill office. Remote workers will not be considered.

Responsibilities will include:

Risk Management

  • Work Commissions project name screening alerts which have been identified in OFSAA to decision suspected Terrorist & Sanction & PEP links within agreed service levels.

  • Review name screening alerts completed by third party in Portugal

  • Decision alerts in line with the Alert Decisioning Standards (ADS) and Financial Crime Risk appetite.

  • Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) or other Commissions related file builds for individuals and entities where required to be escalated for review.

  • Escalate any queries regarding potential sanctions links or heightened areas of FC risk 

  • Complete Dow Jones checks where required

  • Complete Adverse Media checks where required.

  • Support and assist Financial Crime Team Manager & Fraud Team where required.

  • Conduct outreach where required.

  • Submit Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) for any money laundering / terrorist financing concerns identified.

  • The main responsibilities of the role are listed above, however these are under continuous review should the workload / requirements of the role change and to support wider Project needs.

  • Support decisions that consider both good customer outcomes and mitigate financial crime risks within SCUK.

  • Respond promptly and with due care and diligence to queries arising 

Managing Change & continuous business improvement    

  • Identify risks and issues and enable the team to remediate gaps

  • Support remediation of case or procedure deficiencies.

  • Identify root causes of issues so that the team can implement corrective actions to mitigate risk.

  • Take learnings from Quality and Quality Assurance results and embed these into the work

  • Participate in QC/QA calibration sessions where required, so that scoring methodologies remain consistent and effective.

Managing Projects          

  • Support on projects, where required

Managing Internal Relationships

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders

  • Drive best practice for FC controls

  • Represent the FC team where appropriate in discussions, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Regarded as an individual with integrity who gets things done.

Managing the External Focus      

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders as required

  • Keep up to date with competitor initiatives, industry trends and regulatory changes.

  • Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our customers’ needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection

What we’re looking for:

  • Well-developed understanding of motor finance industry and consumer credit products is desirable

  • Execution and in depth knowledge of FC Controls, including enhanced due diligence and screening

  • Ability to make balanced risk-based decisions supported with evidence

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Experience of the regulatory environment associated with financial services

  • Experience of interacting with senior stakeholders enabling them to make decisions in respect of Financial Crime

  • Credible, effective and enthusiastic team member who gains commitment from others and demonstrates the ability to achieve results through people

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines

  • Ability to interpret and evaluate information and make appropriate recommendations

  • Demonstrates a customer centric approach representing the business with internal and external customers

  • Significant understanding of financial crime and fraud policy/regulatory/legislative issues

  • Understanding of Consumer Duty and how this interplays with Financial Crime and Fraud

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Strong PC skills across various applications, systems and ability to produce management information that is meaningful, accurate and informs decision making

  • Financial Crime qualification is essential

  • Educated to degree level is desirable
