Job Description
The Scrum Master is responsible for the day‑to‑day effectiveness of an Agile crew, ensuring consistent execution of Scrum practices while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role serves as a servant leader who enables delivery, removes impediments, and supports the team in adhering to Agile@PNC values and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate all core Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews/demos, and retrospectives in alignment with Agile@PNC standards.
- Act as a servant leader, coaching the Agile crew on Scrum roles, responsibilities, and Agile principles.
- Support sprint execution and help teams maintain focus on sprint commitments and delivery goals.
- Identify, track, and assist in removing team‑level impediments and distractions that impact delivery.
- Partner closely with the Product Owner to maintain backlog health, story readiness, and priority alignment.
- Promote continuous improvement by ensuring retrospectives result in actionable improvement items.
- Maintain transparency through effective use of Jira and approved Agile tooling, ensuring strong backlog and sprint hygiene.
- Communicate delivery risks, progress, and issues clearly to stakeholders as needed.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and psychologically safe team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Scrum and Agile principles, including servant leadership.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating Agile ceremonies with discipline and clear outcomes.
- Hands‑on experience with Jira or comparable Agile delivery tools.
- Conflict and dispute management skills, with the ability to:
- Navigate disagreements constructively.
- Facilitate healthy conflict and difficult conversations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders professionally.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) required.
- Demonstrated success coaching teams.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience supporting multiple crews
- BSA experience.
- Tester experience.
- PM experience.
- Financial services or regulated industry experience.
- Exposure to Scaled Agile (SAFe) practices.
- SAFe Certifications.
