About the Job
The Scientist for CMI &Automation team will design, develop, qualify, validate, and interpretate cellular immunology methodologies to characterize functional T-cell and B-cell subsets and innate immunity for sample analysis for clinical studies across the Sanofi vaccine portfolio. In addition to deep immunological expertise, the candidate will be expected to provide mentorship and effectively supervise and train lab personnel to perform assigned tasks while ensuring applicable compliance and regulatory agency standards are met. The candidate will serve as key resource as expert technical representation within its organization and on multidisciplinary teams. It is expected the candidate remain current on state-of-the art technologies such as high dimensional spectral cytometry and embrace the evaluation of new technologies and automation. This is a laboratory-based role and the candidate is expected to spend high percent time in lab.

Main responsibilities:
Scientific Operations and Management (80% of time)
Build and establish novel cell-based immunoassays such as intracellular cytokine staining (ICS) using spectral cytometry for clinical studies.
Interpret, summarize and report complex data sets with clear and concise oral and written communications.
Serve as an internal subject matter expert on developed assays and demonstrate the ability to educate, train or mentor other team members.
Perform/support activities to ensure test method life cycle management (documentation, method suitability/trending, maintenance, etc.).
Support completion of analytical deliverables to meet project milestones.
Lead and assist in the evaluation of new technologies and automation improvements to support analytical expertise as required.
Works with internal and external partners in support of collaborative projects.
Laboratory Operations (10% of time)
Under direction of management, plans and oversees the day-to-day operations and general activities associated with one or more laboratories/projects.
Ensures laboratory resources (materials/reagents/equipment/facilities) are maintained to meet assigned objectives.
Support a quality and compliant testing environment (laboratories, equipment, reagents, training and documentation, methods, personnel).
Under direction of management, plans and oversees the day-to-day operations and general activities associated with one or more laboratories/projects.
Personnel Supervision and Management (5% of time)
Oversees operational activities of staff working in the laboratory.
Provides guidance and expert advice to staff on technical issues, safety procedures and regulatory compliance matters within the laboratory. Monitors operations to ensure compliance.
Ensures that new employees are appropriately trained/on-boarded and familiar with laboratory operational requirements.
Provide guidance and training for complex molecular assays.
Regulatory/Quality Management (5% of time)
Ensures adherence to all applicable quality, corporate, safety, and regulatory requirements.
May serve as Subject matter Expert (SME) as required.
Support departmental quality by ensuring adequate support for documentation, investigation, and closure of quality items including change controls, deviations, and CAPAs.
About You
Education:
PhD in Biological Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related) with at least 1 year of experience in immunology OR
Master's degree in Biological Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related) with at least 3 years of relevant experience in immunology OR
Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related) with at least 6 years of relevant experience in immunology.
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in immunology including knowledge of immune responses related to infectious diseases. Experience does not need to be exclusively cell-based but it is preferred; broader immunology-related experience in relevant areas is also acceptable.
Experience with T-cell and B-cell functional assays.
Is experience with intracellular cytokine staining (ICS)
Experience with innate immunity assays.
Experience with flow cytometry (spectral or conventional).
Experience with assay development (experience running established assays is required; experience developing from scratch is preferred, even if done collaboratively or under supervision).
Experience working in a GxP-regulated environment (GLP, GMP, and/or GCP).
Prior mentorship or training experience (formal or informal).
Nice to have:
Experience with change controls, deviation investigations, CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
Ability to interpret, summarize, and report complex data sets using any data analysis software.
Background in vaccines.

The salary range for this position is:
