Job Description

Location/Division Specific Information:

Olink, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is dedicated to advancing the understanding of human disease through proteomics. Olink panels provide innovative, high-quality solutions for human protein biomarker discovery, enabling researchers to measure thousands of proteins simultaneously from just a few microliters of blood. Using highly specific and thoroughly validated assays with a wide dynamic range, Olink’s technology overcomes traditional limitations in protein analysis and supports deeper insights into human biology and disease.

Job Description

The Innovation Centre drives the next generation of technologies, products, and applications for protein biomarker discovery. As a Scientist in the Innovation Centre, you will play a key experimental role in advancing Olink’s platforms, with a strong focus on molecular biology, immune assay development, quantitative PCR (qPCR), and next generation sequencing (NGS).

This is a highly laboratory-based position. You will design and execute experiments, develop and optimize sequencing- and qPCR-based immunoassays, and contribute to the advancement of molecular workflows that underpin Olink technologies. You will collaborate closely with senior scientists, bioinformaticians, and project managers to translate innovative concepts into robust, scalable assays.

A Day in the Life

  • Design, develop, optimize, and troubleshoot immunoassays and associated molecular readout workflows (qPCR and NGS).
  • Perform molecular biology techniques including oligonucleotide design, PCR/qPCR, assay optimization, and NGS library preparation.
  • Contribute to development and validation of antibody-based assay formats (e.g., PEA, PLA or related technologies).
  • Characterize antibodies and reagents with respect to specificity, sensitivity, and performance in assay context.
  • Analyze experimental data from qPCR and NGS platforms and document results in a structured, reproducible manner.
  • Evaluate and implement new reagents, protocols, and technologies to improve assay robustness, throughput, and performance.
  • Work cross-functionally with colleagues in assay development, bioinformatics, protein sciences, and data analysis to refine experimental designs.
  • Present experimental plans, data, and conclusions clearly in internal meetings.
  • Maintain a well-organized laboratory environment, including instrument maintenance and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Contribute to building and sharing molecular biology and immune assay expertise within the Innovation Centre.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, immunology, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with NGS library preparation and sequencing-based assay readouts is highly desirable.
  • Practical experience with antibody-based assay formats (e.g., ELISA, PEA, PLA or similar technologies).
  • Experience in development, optimization, and validation of immunoassays.
  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and document experiments in a structured and rigorous manner.
  • Strong collaborative mindset and ability to contribute effectively in multidisciplinary project teams.
