There will be a continuous challenge to develop new analytic capabilities and improve existing ones on a wide variety of projects. The Scientist III, Data Sciences may choose the approach taken or may implement turnkey or suggested approaches.
A day in the Life:
- Apply advanced data algorithms to build models which could include: customer acquisition, up sell and cross sell, customer retention, recommendation engines and others.
- Create, validate and stress-test the algorithms that are employed.
- Pull data in from various sources and work with business leaders to create revenue generating strategies.
- Develop analytical and visual metrics to measure and compare campaign performance.
- Transform data on customer behavior and web engagement into product recommendations.
- Work with our Data Scientists to leverage machine learning and automation to enhance business processes.
- Share ideas across the team to come up with the best algorithms and approaches.
Keys to Success:
In order to thrive in this role you will need strong skills in:
- Extracting data from multiple sources, cleaning and validating for duplicates and other anomalies.
- Identifying patterns in data and turn those patterns into market opportunities.
- Employing math and statistics into algorithms to generate real-time predictive systems.
- Aligning and adapting business problems to the most efficient machine learning algorithm.
- Writing code from scratch to build solutions that don’t align with any available turnkey packages.
- Selecting and explaining the best analytical technique for the particular problem.
- Understanding how to create a computationally efficient solution.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of proven experience in data science, analytics, statistics, applied math or related field OR
- Master’s Degree with 2 years of proven experience in data science, analytics, statistics, applied math or related field OR
- Completion of 2 year ThermoFisher Data Science Leadership Development Program.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong skills for math and numerical estimation.
- Proficiency in Python (or PySpark) and SQL.
- Solid understanding of SQL Server, Oracle or Power BI.
- Experience with version control / source code management systems (Git, GitHub).
- Experience in eCommerce desirable but not required.
- Experience using Databricks or other cloud-enabled data science platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to communicate across people of varying technical and business acumen.
- Passionate about continuous learning.
