A Day in the Life:

  • Perform analytical assays on Mass Spec instrumentation focusing on metabolomics/small molecules.
  • Analyze cell culture media samples autonomously or with limited mentorship.
  • Participate in analytical method development, optimization, verification and validation.
  • Regularly communicate plans, actions and results with the manager and other leaders.

  • Proven ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical instrumentation.
  • Initiative to engage in process improvement projects that support business needs.
  • Strong communication skills to regularly update managers and teams on projects.
  • Follow all company safety, training, and quality regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate lab notebooks and data records, and follow Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Advise manager of factors that may affect quality of data. Suggest options / ideas for corrective and preventative actions.
     

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
     

Experience

  • Functional knowledge of laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Experience with metabolomics sample preparation and chromatography techniques such as HPLC/UHPLC and LC-MS technology.
  • Experience with processing untargeted (DDA/DIA) and targeted (SRM/MRM) Mass Spec data for a metabolomics workflow is required.
  • Hands on experience with Thermo Scientific Orbitrap and/or TSQ Mass Spec series instrumentation is a differentiator.
  • Experience with data processing software such as Compound Discoverer, TraceFinder, Skyline, METLIN and pathway enrichment analysis.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Possesses excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate scientific results clearly, concisely, and accurately.
  • Performs successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.
  • Exhibits strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Displays outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to evaluate and manage multiple project tasks effectively.
     

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Work is performed in a laboratory setting with routine exposure to hazardous materials. Strict adherence to safety protocols is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $83,300.00–$111,000.00.
