Scientist I, Manufacturing Sciences

Role Summary

The Scientist I, Manufacturing Sciences supports the development, transfer, and optimization of manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical or biotech products. This role ensures process robustness, GMP compliance, and manufacturing readiness for clinical and commercial production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing processes by monitoring performance and analyzing process data
  • Assist in technical transfer activities from R&D to Manufacturing or between manufacturing sites
  • Contribute to process scale-up and scale-down studies
  • Support troubleshooting of process deviations, OOS, and manufacturing issues
  • Analyze critical process parameters (CPPs) and critical quality attributes (CQAs)
  • Prepare and review GMP documentation, including protocols, reports, change controls, deviations, and CAPAs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, R&D, Engineering, and Regulatory
  • Support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biology
    • Chemical Engineering or related scientific field

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing processes
  • Experience with data analysis and trending (Excel required; JMP/Minitab a plus)

Soft Skills

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Clear technical communication skills

Language

  • Fluent technical English (written and spoken)

Experience

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in:
    • Manufacturing Sciences / MS&T
    • Process Development
    • Technical Transfer
    • Manufacturing Operations
      (Internships, co-ops, or industrial thesis count)
