[What the role is]

You will be part of our team that will contribute to Singapore’s aquaculture sector's resilience and growth by developing capabilities of local hatcheries in supply of quality fish fingerlings and shrimp post-larvae for local production and conduct of field trials to assess the performance of the fingerlings.

[What you will be working on]

In this role, you will:

  • Improve hatchery production methods to raise industry’s capability in suppling quality fingerlings for species such as seabass, marine tilapia, snappers and groupers, and shrimp post-larvae for production
  • Conduct field trials to assess the performance of fingerlings generated from local breeding programs, at varied environments including at both local and overseas farms
  • Identify cost structures of current aquaculture systems and implement technologies or innovations for production costs optimization
  • Engage and collaborate with local and regional counterparts and specialists on research and innovation projects to overcome technical issues related to aquaculture production  
  • Provide technical support and training on fish and shrimp husbandry and aquaculture best practices to industry stakeholders
  • Perform duties as required for the smooth operation of the Marine Aquaculture Centre

[What we are looking for]

Our requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in fish and shrimp husbandry, as well as hatchery production of marine fish fingerlings and shrimp post-larvae, are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of aquaculture technologies and best practices
  • Proficiency in data analysis and research methodologies.
  • Prepared to work on weekends and after office hours when necessary
  • Team player with good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in the office, field or offshore environments, including onboard sea-going vessels and overseas for projects when required
  • Fresh graduates from related fields are welcome to apply
