Roche/Genmark Diagnostics is seeking a Scientist. In this role, the Scientist will demonstrate expertise in advanced nucleic acid amplification technologies. Showing a solid understanding, with hands on experience, in biological sample handling, nucleic acid purification, amplification and detection. In addition, the Scientist will investigate, create, and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement through a combination of individual studies and team research. The Scientist will provide recommendations/observations to scientific staff/management on projects and issues.
The Opportunity:
You will analyze and compile experimental data and reports and records results in laboratory notebook.
You will prepare documents, including data summaries, reports, SOPs and procedures
You will present work at meetings as required, and propose new strategies and methods to address immediate and upcoming technical issues
You will determine strategic approach to experimental design; integrating results with project and division objectives
You will maintain a high level of expertise through scientific literature, competitor products, and seminars, and serves as technical expert within assay development groups and across other internal departments
You may contribute toward or produce invention disclosures, patents and publications
You will provide work direction and coaching for junior level Research Associates as needed
You will interact with other internal departments, as necessary, to plan and expedite project objective
Who You Are:
(Required)
You have a BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry or a related field with eight or more (8+) years of laboratory experience; you have a MS in in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry or a related field with three or more (3+) years of laboratory experience; or a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry or a related field with one or more (1+) years of laboratory experience
You have demonstrated experience in molecular diagnostics product development
You have a proficiency writing/revising protocols and reports for FDA analytical studies
You have demonstrated mastery in data analysis (including various statistical analyses and DOE), research design, and evaluation of new techniques & procedures for products, systems or technologies
Preferred:
You have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry or a related field
You have knowledge of analytical test methods based CLSI & FDA guidelines
You have excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple changing projects and priorities
You have strong written and verbal communication skills; preparation of documents, including data summaries, reports and procedures
You have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively, fostering professional, constructive relationships as part of a team while also working independently to produce data and meet challenging timelines and goals
This position is based onsite in Carlsbad, CA. This is not a hybrid position.

The expected salary range for this position based in Carlsbad, CA is $70,600 - $131,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
