The Translational Genomics and Proteomics Center at Genentech Research and Early
Development integrates innovative genomic, proteomic and computational approaches to
advance basic understanding of human biology and disease.
A position is available in the Ye laboratory for a highly committed and creative Scientist 3 to
develop and apply cutting-edge single cell genomic techniques, genomic and chemical
perturbations to reveal novel immunological mechanisms of human health and disease. The
successful candidate will develop and implement novel genomic, molecular and cellular
techniques and apply them to in vitro and in vivo immunological models to reveal novel
biological pathways that control the intrinsic and population dynamic behavior of immune cells.
You will work jointly within interdisciplinary teams including our therapeutic areas, translational
medicine, human genetics and/or computational sciences.
The Opportunity
● Develop and apply multimodal genomic profiling technologies in cell lines, organoids,
disease models, and primary tissue samples
● Develop and apply genome perturbation technologies in cell lines and primary human
immune cells
● Effectively collaborate with teams within the department and across Genentech
● Communicate results through scientific publications and presentations
● Contribute to identifying new research opportunities
Who You Are
● Advanced degree (Doctorate or Masters with additional experience) in a relevant field,
including molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, immunology, systems biology,
developmental biology, biochemistry, and/or biomedical engineering.
● Strong background in NGS assay development. Experience with genomic data analyses
and interpretation (R and/or Python)
● Deep experience in engineering and culturing of primary immune cells.
● Excellent oral and written presentation skills
● Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams,
