Scientific Product/Business Analyst

Job Description

Applied Research and Innovation team seeks a motivated Scientific Product Analyst/Business Analyst with a strong chemistry background and solid IT/product delivery skills to lead development, maintenance, and optimization of scientific software products in the chemistry domain. 

Candidate will develop and manage products’ roadmaps and define how products success and value delivery are measured for their products.

The position will involve regular interactions with scientists as part of a cross-regional and multidisciplinary network of researchers, computational biologists, data scientists and software engineers.

In this role, you will

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define the product vision and roadmap based on business need and scientific research

  • Stay updated on the latest competing products, and customers’ needs to identify opportunities for product innovation and improvement

  • Engage regularly with bench and computational chemists, medicinal chemistry project teams, assay scientists, and external partners to gather domain requirements, validate use cases, and capture feedback

  • Identify, define, and prioritize product requirements and features based on scientific and customer insights

  • Work closely with software engineers, bioinformaticians, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into user stories, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of high-quality chemistry products

  • Plan and conduct product release (SDLC), validation, usability testing, and other evaluation methods to ensure product performance and compliance with scientific standards and regulations

  • Monitor product performance and user feedback to identify opportunities for enhancements or new product iterations

Required Experience and Skills:

  • BSc or MSc (PhD desirable) in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cheminformatics or closely related discipline, with at least 3 years’ relevant experience in industry or academic research

  • Product management experience as well as domain knowledge in a core drug discovery scientific discipline such as chemistry, or cheminformatics

  • Strong technical/IT background. Experience working with software development teams, data integration, APIs, and familiarity with machine learning applications for chemistry is strongly preferred

  • Proven product management experience or ownership of scientific product/features with full lifecycle delivery (requirements, development, validation, release, and post-release support)

  • Practical experience or strong working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and SDLC best practices

  • Strong user-centric approach to product development

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and high professional standards with strong ability to prioritize and work under pressure

  • Excellent communications skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally

  • Strong communication skills and ability to simplify and explain complex biological problems to data scientists and software engineers
