THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

SCIB GTB TRADE is looking for an ASSOCIATE IN THE SOFT COMMODITIES SECTOR TEAM based out of FRANKFURT.

As an ASSOCIATE IN THE SOFT COMMODITIES SECTOR TEAM, you will support the origination and structuring of trade and working capital solutions for large corporate clients in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and in the Nordic countries with special focus and responsibility for the Soft Commodity sector. You will have responsibility for a set of dedicated existing customers.

  • Support senior team members in identifying opportunities and assist in originating transactions within Trade & Working capital solutions for large corporate clients, including Letter of Credit (import/export, standby Letter of Credits); prepare and deliver client presentations and actively support other sales and coverage initiatives.
  • Manage your own set of customers alongside goals and available tools, interact with clients regularly managing the existing portfolio business and assist in enhancing the profitability and revenues in line with Santander’s requirements
  • Prepare and execute transactions, including for example applications for internal approval committees and alignment with all internal stakeholders relevant for execution, such as Banking, Private Debt Mobilization (Syndication), Operations, Legal, Global Product, Compliance, IT, so as to provide a best-in-class service and seamless end to end origination and execution.
  • Perform financial and strategic business analysis.
  • Adherence to internal processes, policies, and governance frameworks, maintaining appropriate controls, documentation, and transparency over sales and execution activity, particularly in relation to trade finance and LC transactions.
  • Gather market intelligence and support in advising clients on all matters concerning Trade and Working Capital solutions.
  • Support the team in external advocacy roles in support of Santander's branding, recruitment and thought leadership.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant experience with Trade & Working Capital solutions, with focus on specifically Letter of Credits (Import/Export) and guarantee business (required)
  • Customer facing and or sales experience is a plus (preferred)

Education

  • B.A. in Finance, Business Administration or equivalent ideal, or
  • other university and business school qualifications, such as finance, law, engineering, math, physics, or economics, as examples.

Languages

  • Fluency in German and English (required)
  • Any other language would be a plus (preferred)

Hard Skills

  • The candidate should demonstrate expertise in trade & working capital products, structures, and geographies (required)

Other Information

  • The candidate should be flexible to travel and participate in client meetings in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and in the Nordics region.
