ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The General Sales Manager/Finance Director position requires an experienced professional with complete operational understanding of current and advanced automotive sales and finance operations. This includes floor process, internet process, phones, customer service skills, inventory management, and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will also possess very strong leadership and coaching skills. He/she will operate the department at maximum efficiency, controlling expenses, building customer loyalty, nurturing team member enthusiasm, setting and achieving financial objectives and maintaining adequate records.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, as assigned.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

●Responsible for daily operations of the sales department.

● Hires, trains, supervises and monitors the performance of the sales department managers and sales staff.

● Accountable for the ratios on scheduled appointments made to actual shown appointments.

● Fully responsible and accountable for closing ratios and accuracy of look to book ratios.

● Ensure grosses are correct and consistent in all systems.

● Responsible for managing Finance processors to ensure CITs (Contracts in Transit) are funded within an average of 3 days.  

● Responsible for the accurate submission of all deals, or for directing where deals should be submitted.

● Responsible for contacting banks to renegotiate deals and secure improved terms and rates.

● Accountable to review and optimize the profitability of all deals with a credit score of 680 or lower.  

● In charge of obtaining various financing options for all deals, including 60, 66, 72, 75, and up to 84-month terms.  

● Responsible for maximizing product profit and aim for a 2 PPD (Products Per Deal) minimum average.

● Responsible for managing daily F&I menu construction and CA execution.

● Report all floor traffic ratios, closing, look and book, cost to market and PVR gross to the General Manager daily.

● Ensure CRM is utilized to its fullest extent 100% of the time. 

● Ensures that all sales processes are followed 100% of the time.  Making sure all processes are current and relevant.

● Addresses customer complaints immediately.  Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, meeting or exceeding the manufacturer’s benchmark.

● Audit company websites to ensure maximum lead generation (call to action, photos, vehicle details, specials, etc.).

● Manage lead providers/aggregators and hold accountable for fair return on investment.

● Verify all websites, ancillary sites, are correct with current promotions and pricing.

● Create and update as needed communication formats emails/scripts.

● Manage Lead distribution strategy to sales team.

● Manage process to follow-up unsold appointments.

● Verify the recording in CRM of all events in processing leads up to and including the appointment.

● Fulfills responsibilities primarily through effective personnel management, knowledge of market potential, established performance standards.

● Model professionalism and approach all situations as a representative of the company '

JOB REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE 

● Retail intensity everyday regardless of the time of the month.

● Must possess a very high knowledge and experience with F&I.

● Previous sales, sales management and F&I experience in new/used vehicles required.

● Familiarity with CRM is preferred, not required.

● Ability to use DealerTrack DMS and Microsoft office products.

● Excellent communication skills are required.

● Must be self-motivated with an ability to manage and organize time and activities.

● Ability to adopt and support new processes and changes to help in employee and customer satisfaction.

● Demonstrate high character and achieve high results.

● Excellent process orientation and extremely accountable for self and sales operations.

● Possess outstanding work ethic.

● Able to use/learn to use: dealer DMS system, Microsoft Office Products, Google Suite and other software products as required.

● Handle all vehicles with care, keep them clean and take precautions to protect all vehicles at the dealership. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION 

● 5 years of automotive retail sales management experience. 

● 2 years of F&I Manager or Director experience.

● 4 year college degree, or comparable experience preferred.

● The ability to work independently with limited supervision and the motivation to continually increase product knowledge should be evident.

● Must possess and maintain a valid driver license.

● Must possess and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

● Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.

● Must hold a current State sales license or have the ability to obtain a sales license as required by the State. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

● Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand tools, machinery, computers, diagnostic tools, and other shop machines in order to perform the requisite job functions.  

● Visual acuity to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.   Requires extended visual inspections of work areas and components, as well as reading and entering information on computer screens.

● Must be able to sit or stand in a stationary position for extended periods of time.  

● Adequate physical ability to maneuver inside, outside, and under a vehicle as required for cleaning.

● Requires frequent reaching, bending, repetitive hand movements, twisting, standing, walking, sitting, squatting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.

● Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.

● Ability to work in extreme weather conditions in both summer and winter.

● Regular, punctual attendance is required. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

● This position operates in a professional dealership environment.

● Evening and Saturday work will be required.  

● Must maintain a clean, safe working environment at all times.
