Summary:

As a Product Designer focused on systems and delivery, you will bring structure, scalability, and production excellence to everything you touch. You’ll design and maintain robust, scalable design systems, translating conceptual intent into consistent, reusable components that elevate digital product delivery across teams. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in high-craft, systems-led environments, where precision, consistency, and execution are as valued as creativity. You will sit within the South Africa team, with a direct connection into the UK Design team, under their leadership. Your primary focus will be on UK-facing requirements, business development and delivery initiatives. You will participate in UK design rituals, planning sessions, and critiques — and will be fully integrated into the team in practice, even if not in location

Qualifications /Certifications required:

· Formal qualifications such as a National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Media, or a related discipline from a recognized South African tertiary institution (e.g. BA/BTech in Multimedia, UX/UI, or Interaction Design) are desirable but not essential.

· More important than formal education is the quality of your portfolio, your mindset, and your ability to demonstrate impact through your design work.

Experience required:

· 4–6 years of experience in digital product design, with a strong emphasis on design systems, delivery tooling, or design-engineering collaboration.

· Experience working in environments where precision, scale, and repeatability are required — such as financial services, enterprise UX, or multi-stream platforms.

· Demonstrable experience in emerging Generative AI technologies for design is a plus, especially where they support design systems, prototyping, or automation.

· A track record of building and maintaining component libraries, design tokens, and documentation across teams.

· Experience partnering closely with engineers to ensure design fidelity at delivery.

Industry Experience:

· Experience across varied sectors is welcomed — including financial services, healthcare, enterprise platforms, or government — but the key requirement is a systems and delivery mindset, not domain specialism.

Responsibilities of role:

· As a Systems-Focused Product Designer at SATIC, you will:

o Own and evolve design systems in Figma — including component libraries, tokens, documentation, and governance practices.

o Partner with engineering to ensure scalable, pixel-perfect implementation of interfaces and components.

o Translate high-level journeys into structured, production-ready interfaces and flows.

o Maintain consistency across brands, devices, and product streams while allowing for local nuance.

o Set and uphold standards for quality, accessibility, responsiveness, and scalability across digital product teams.

o Contribute to design QA, prototyping, system governance, and handover processes to ensure smooth collaboration between design and development.

o Support the creation and refinement of shared tooling and templates for cross-project reusability

Desirable skill sets include:

· Expert-level proficiency with Figma, including advanced component structuring, variants, auto layout, and design token management.

· Strong working knowledge of design systems, accessibility, interaction patterns, and platform-specific UI frameworks (web, iOS, Android).

· Experience with design-to-code workflows is highly desirable — including Translating designs into production-ready code via tools such as Lovable, Magic Patterns, Figma Sites, or equivalent.

· Designing directly with code in low-code/no-code or developer-friendly design environments.

· Understanding of how design choices impact front-end performance and implementation complexity.

· Familiarity with motion design, prototyping tools (e.g. Protopie, Framer, Lottie) and GenAI tooling for layout, documentation, or automation (e.g. Galileo, Diagram tools).

· Comfortable working within shared handover systems (e.g. Storybook, Zeroheight, Git-based design pipelines) in collaboration with engineering.

Role related attributes:

· Exceptionally detail-oriented — you take pride in what others might overlook.

· Systems thinker — able to zoom out and identify scalable, elegant solutions across complex product landscapes.

· Methodical and consistent — thrives in well-structured processes but flexible enough to evolve them as needed.

· Confident collaborator with cross-disciplinary teams — able to guide others through the "how" of good design. · Production-minded — you know how to ship, and how to balance fidelity with practicality.

· Passionate about quality — you set the standard and inspire others to meet it

Candidates referred for headhunting:

· Designers with strong production/delivery experience from agencies, product companies, or enterprise SaaS platforms.

· Individuals with hybrid design-engineering backgrounds, or those who have worked closely with developers in design system teams.

· Talent from bootcamps or GenAI-focused product tooling startups.
